Undoubtedly one of the greatest and most influential musicians of the last century, Sitar legend Ravi Shankar, has died, aged 92. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-20694149 An absolute music legend.
A great musician indeed with far reaching influence. His work with Yehudi Menuhin was awesome beyond all belief: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtzrbbJ6N2g
He seems to have slipped under the radar of many people, though. I guess the height of his public fame was some time ago now, but still it's surprising that more people don't seem to be aware of him.
The music remains inaccessible to most, even now. RIP Ravi Shankar. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/dec/12/ravi-shankar-music-world-apart-hippy-culture
George Harrison brought him to prominence long ago. I always liked Ravi for his talent. His daughter Nora, from a previous relationship, is a great talent herself.
