America was not founded as a democracy; our federal government NEVER legalized slavery; most states had outlawed slavery BEFORE the adoption of the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution of Vermont outlawed slavery in 1777. Haiti abolished slavery in 1804 (see how that worked out for them) and Great Britain in 1807. We beat them by over a quarter of a century.

Any dumb dolt knows that states rights and individual rights are not the same thing, but the Civil War was over states rights with slavery as a pretext. the 14th Amendment is proof of that. And I'm not impressed by your amateurish misconceptions about history. If I insult you, it nets me an infraction here, so flame away.
