Al Baghdadi has now declared war on all the monarchs and rulers of the Middle East. No doubt there will be an offensive against all of them and they will react accordingly. The interesting one will be Turkey, since it is the logistic base for ISIS. It's not that Erdogan is against a caliphate, it's only that he wants to be its caliph. Here are some excerpts from the article:

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    .

There is no longer an Jihadist ISIS or ISIL in Syria and Iraq. The people leading that entity declared today, at the highly symbolic beginning of Ramadan, themselves to be a new caliphate. With this declaration al-Baghdadi also declared war on all monarchs and other rulers in the Middle East. He will soon likely call for offensive jihad against them. This might now unite all the notoriously discordant Gulf countries against this new Islamic State.

There are already signs of this. The Saudis are said to have now, in sight of the danger, even agreed to let the Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki go for a new term. This might set them in opposition to Washington which, as the one trick pony it is, had called again for regime change in Iraq.

It will be interesting to see the reaction from Turkey, the rearward logistic base for ISIS, now IS. Erdogan surely would not mind a new caliphate but he will have objections against one in which he isn't the Caliph ruling it. So will we now see, now confronted with a new common enemy, a real united response of all Middle East countries against this new danger?

A new Caliphate? Such an idea can come only from an insane fantasy. Even in Islamic countries there is no more room for an "empire" or something like that. National countries will simply get rid of it in a while [if they will be able to create it ... and I doubt].

About Erdogan, one never knows ... may be he is thinking to create a new Ottoman Empire ...

It's possible, or at least this is the beginning of a conflict that will last many years across many countries in the region, including Jordan and Lebanon.

And Israel would be in the middle of the mess ... I cannot exclude the involvement of its allies in an enlarged conflict ...

So is he still lurking in the shadows, or as leader of a new nation going to show himself in some form or another?

How many Moslems are foolish enough to buy this declaration.

Hey! Maybe I should claim to be the Caliph of all Moslems! Why not? I have as much claim to it as this bozo.

Ridiculous enough to be taken extremely serious by all parties. Ridiculous enough to entertain the thought of Iran, the US, and Russia working together to defeat them.

Let's say there is eventually a caliphate. What skin is it off my nose?

The danger here to us is in failing to see the world through their eyes, and projecting our attitudes and values onto what we imagine they are.

That would leave us at a distinct disadvantage.

The danger here is reacting to a false issue and assuming Muslims want a Caliphate.

I see no problem with a caliphate. Is there one?

Nope.. Baghdadi is the equivalent of a Glenn Beck... Its a political ploy that fails to unite Muslims and makes the believers an object of ridicule. The interests of Muslims countries are too diverse to support a Caliphate.

I mean, really, how does a caliphate hurt us? I think it would put one guy on the hook for all terrorism around the world. Maybe two guys since Iran will never be part of a caliphate.

I don't see the Persians ever joining the Arabs in a caliphate. Iran would be a big bite out of any caliphate.

Well, the only Muslims that I know are those that I have met here in America, and they are here because they don't want the theocracy.

But what about the others? It seems foolish to assume that they are carbon copies of myself and share my values, such as free speech, women's rights, freedom of religion, etc. And it's my observation from here that the more fundamentalist types have an outsize influence and power of intimidation.

You are probably right since we're feeding them with arms in Syria. Anyway here's something interesting, it's a map of their five year plan for the world. Spain, is missing, as is Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and some other European nations. Seems it's a combination of the Turkish Ottoman Empire which Erdogan and his side kick Devotoglu want, and the Arab Sunni Caliphate.
