God know we need some. Love this. Kangaroos filmed fighting in suburbia http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-10-07/kangaroo-street-fight-aussie-style/5796778
I'm really surprised with the current media/journalist mentality it wasn't a couple of flies crawling up a wall. Anything to distract the people away from reality.
Do you guys think or believe that the financial cuts to the ABC/SBS shows itself in less journalistic efforts?
How are we going to defeat that stereotype ("oh Australia, that's where kangaroos bounce down the main street") now?
Definitely. I saw a couple of female journalists (if you could call them that) following behind Joey on the ABC news. He actually shooshed them like they were a couple of little 5 year old's - one of the most embarrassing things I have ever seen on TV, and he was smiling about it.
Whats the old adage: cutting a rod for your own back. I really think the majority of Australians would be seriously surprised and shocked if they really knew how the rest of the world views how backward Australia and Australians are. I know not many of them travel internationally, but they really should.
I would love a kangaroo to bounce down my street. There were a few hanging around a property I had up north. But here in Sydney, no chance.
Not so much frivolous as much as a pretty accurate compilation and funny and dumb (starring Tony) piece to boot. Thanks, John Oliver.
Because I don't quite care at all, and I don't want part of my paycheck going to any broadcaster, much less a state broadcaster.
It's more the principle of it, I dislike having my property stolen by thieves who claim authority due to number and consensus.
I agree with this. I don't see any difference in donating that 12.2c to the ABC or Packer or Murdoch, as they are all biased, and not truly independent.
There is no such thing as independent. There is no "right" interpretation of an event. The biggest thing killing good media these days is the mainstream's absolute fetish for impartiality. Their search for this impartiality leads them to another sort of bias, one no better than that exhibited on clearly opinionated shows.
There doesn't seem to be any "independent" news coverage concerning politics. They are either biased towards the LNP or ALP. It would be nice to see some unbiased reporting.
That's exactly what I'm saying isn't possible. All reporting is subject to interpretation. So go out and seek your favored interpretation. Sample a broad variety of sources and find those you find most fitting to your ends.
