In the last 2 to 3 dackeds moves have removed god from vampire moves and other monster moves, in many ways I fill this is a bad thing as vampires have become imposable to defeat by mortals instead the only hope we have is that some other vampire who is good saves us. After all a cross will not stop them, sunlight will not stop them, as they faster and stronger than us there is no hope but that a nice monster will save us. But Im not too concerned about this; Im somewhat surprised though at the fact that no realigns grope seems to care that there religion is being removed from these monster moves. At first I thought that this would hurt religion but thin I came to a different conclusion, that perhaps they are more than a little bit please to be removed from this superstitious belief of vampires that are somewhat basted on demons and devil worship but they were not made by the church, but instead by story tellers, and as we all know the supernatural can only be defeated by god the story tellers made certain they were week to faith, but this view has changed. Of cores having god being the only one who can defeat such monsters wood aide the church but is it more helpful to not to be linked to such false superstitions. What do you think?
Take a bath in garlic butter and you'll be fine in regards to vampire... You might get asked for a date by an italian though... I don't know which is worse...
If you want to see a monster movie where religion holds a prominent place while not being the lead monster, try The Mist with Thomas Jane. You'll have all the religion you can stand.
I think someone has been reading/watching too much Twilight. Pro tip: When considering vampires, pretend as if the Twilight series never existed (which any self-respecting vampire fan - strike that, any self-respecting human - should do anyway). It is far removed from the actual mythos. (My wife made me watch the Twilight movies with her. OMG were they horrific.)
I that God was taken out because a Priest could not kill a Vampire… Also, you are watching too much Twilight I think. Never will see any of the movies, but know they walk in daylight and go to high school (film was filmed here at Madison High School)… People of God can only ward off vampires with the word or The Book. They are the undead… the word of God has as much use on Vampires as it does on Zombies… Which is - not much… One good trick is to eat TONS of garlic. Did you know that this also works for things that are “real” and suck blood like mosquitos?
I see the trend noted by the OP as just another symptom of Hollywood's hostility to religion. When a character holds up a crucifix to a vampire and it DOESN'T work, the writers are making a statement that religion is useless to solve our problems.
No they're not. They're just saying that religion is useless to stop a hungry vampire. Cinema has, for the most part, never been too deep. With only a few relative exceptions, the vast majority of movies are targeted to the "lowest common denominator". No need to read into things too much.
