Oh, the Republican majority is just up and slipping away.

Mike Gallagher announced he is leaving Congress in April.

Gallagher, a staunch critic of MAGA's lies about the last election and January 6th certainly was not an ally of Trump in Congress in the last few years.

If you think the GOP had a hard time getting a Speaker elected last time, try it with a few less Republicans.

GOP Rep. Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin will resign from Congress early, handing another blow to Speaker Mike Johnson and his razor thin Republican majority.

In a statement, Gallagher confirmed he will resign effective April 19.

Gallagher did not include a reason for stepping down but said he came to the decision after “conversations with my family.”

The House already has three vacancies – left by two Republicans and one Democrat – and Republican Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado has said he will leave Congress after this week.

Once Buck and Gallagher leave, Johnson will be down to a 217-to-213 majority, meaning Republicans will only be able to lose one vote with full attendance and still be able to pass legislation.

NBC News first reported the news of Gallagher’s decision.

Gallagher is chairman of the high-profile Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, and Gallagher noted the hunt for a new chair once he departs in his announcement.

The first thing that strikes you is that he's leaving before the election.

The climate in the GOP is so toxic, so unhealthy, that he's incapable of staying another 8 months.

Lindsay Graham was right, Trump and his MAGA will destroy the Republican party and we'll have only ourselves to blame.

Another sane Republicans quits. I am sure MAGA will call him a RINO and yell "good riddance". In the meantime, MAGA bomb throwers, like MTG, dominate the news cycle.

ETTD, he's destroyed the Republican Party as well. What's really sad is the remaining rest see this, know their faith and continue to put their hubris before the country and what's right.

Marge Taylor is just bluffing, of curse. It's not unreasonable to believe that Johnson is the safest Speaker the GOP has had in decades... They just wouldn't dare remove him.

    THANK YOU!

The Republican Party is imploding. But the minions wont admit it. When Trump goes down, and it’s happening before our very eyes, they have nothing to rally around, or anyone to follow. Trump isn't a Leader, he is followed with Jim Jones like adoration by many. This is born out by the fact that he has been found guilty in 2 trials, and all the right can do is attack those that convicted him. They never really discuss the merits of what happened, they just claim the law, and those who enforce it, are somehow applying it wrong, or they are targeting DJT with the charges. But here’s the rub, HE IS BEING FOUND GUILTY BY JURIES AND EVIDENCE!!!!

The Republican Party itself, is now self destructing. The party is finally splintering into 2 factions, real republicans, and Trumpers. That was fine for a while, but now the Trump faction is giving up on any real form of conservatism, and they are all about the man, and they’re willing to take down the country to support the man. The real conservatives are fighting back, because the excuses and lies about what is happening is just too much for them, and honestly, most of them know he is guilty of these things and more, and they want to try to save the Republican Party

Personally I dont think they can, and I think the Republican Party is about to completely implode. But I have my popcorn already made and its just been fun to watch in the last few weeks the infighting start.

BTW, righties…please donate to the “save trump fund” because the “multi-billionare” needs your donations to put up a $350 million dollar BOND’………math is hard……

Just another example of a House member, who was willing to get things done, now needs to leaves, due to the fact that Trump has intimidated all others. This nonsense from MAGAs will eventually hit the brick wall of reality.

Who needs elections when you can just sit back and watch the Rep House destroy itself. *pass the popcorn*

Not too late to elect Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker. He might have the votes now.8)
