Russian propaganda will work well in the US if it is endorsed by a top leader. Most people here don't know the details in Eurasia, so when we hear about the Russians killing "terrorist" we take it at face value. Especially if the US president then commends Russia for its actions.

Go a step further and label anyone critical of Russia as brainwashed, or part of the fake news, and its easy to make criticism a political partisan issue.

Putler (tks!!!) is the head of the world's biggest mafia and in no way represents freedom and democracy. Heck, the "free world" depended on him to verify Syria's destruction of chemical weapons most recently, look how that turned out. Russia is not being used as any red herring because Russia is an opponent and an enemy. I say this not from some emotional knee jerk action. I say so based upon on Russia's actions. Russia wants NATO and the EU to go away. WHY. Because that will give Russia the road to dominate Europe and hurt us economically and politically and destroy our wall of security. You need to understand that Europe us our important trading partner and Russia wants Europe for itself. I am talking about economic imperialism because that is what the new USSR that Putin wants to build is.

To be perfectly clear, if a liberal politician supported Russia the same thing would happen. Just on the other side of the fence. Most of us don't understand much of what's going on that far away, so we mostly agree with whatever our party leaders claim and exaggerate the inconsistencies of the other.

I even assume that many media outlets would spin everything differently if someone like Obama was supporting Russian actions.

And that is a national shame. The truth is more often kicked to the curb in the name of greater causes than it is sought out. Which makes me wonder about the use of these greater causes which are supported so often by a framework of deceit. Is anyone really working towards a cause, or are they only transfixed on the next minor victory?

Russia needs to be checked in its most ambitious maneuvering. Its lack of hesitation in using violence and provocateur tactics against peaceful protesters, and assassinating critics and inconvenient witnesses make clear what kind of regime it is and will continue to be. Do we want to go back to having massive political death camps? Who can ethically support or minimize the actions of murderous leadership?

I have watched liberals say we have to because of the nuclear threat. Getting along and not making waves is the best plan as far as they are concerned. Its surprising to me, despite what I've said, how quickly many of the conservatives are moving to that same argument. Whatever backbone identity each of our parties had at one time is far out of sight in modern times.

So far I witnessed the direct opposite, with any media input from Russian Federation being dismissed as "state propaganda", as well as - myslef - being repeatedly insulted and harassed, witnessing my country insulted - even in this thread - demonised, with my people being demonised and insulted. This was, in my opinion, a brute expression of force, and one of main reasons of armed conflict in the Donbass region, that keeps consuming people's lives. It should have - must have - been resolved through diplomacy, dialogue between government and people - not through subjugation by military.
