According to a law that took effect on December 10th, 2018, all New Jersey residents were required to turn in all "large capacity magazines" on their firearms to law enforcement immediately. However, according to a report from Reason, New Jersey residents may not have turned a single such magazine in compliance with the law. Investigations conducted last week by Reason and Ammoland writer John Crump, however, were unable to find that a single New Jersey resident had complied with the law by turning in their LCMs to law enforcement. Several police departments — including the New Jersey State Police — affirmatively responded that "zero" magazines had been turned in to law enforcements, while others were simply unable or unwilling to provide answers. Overall, not a single confirmed instance of a gun owner turning in an LCM to police was found. It is estimated that there may be as many as ten million magazines in New Jersey that are now illegal under the new law. https://www.theblaze.com/news/2018/...rge-capacity-magazine-ban-isnt-going-well/amp
Perhaps states should refrain from attempting to implement firearm-related restrictions that cannot actually be enforced if the public simply refuses to comply.
There was an article posted on PF that some law enforcement officers would not comply with the law. We are one more step closer to another civil war.
they can be though, just like using drugs in your home, they can arrest you if they find out call the fire dept and they see them in your house.. busted
Yup...but with estimated 10 million mags in NJ that is one hell of a slow process for making any kind of dent in that number. Good luck with that.
Props to the people of NJ for having the backbone to refuse to comply with a nonsensical law. Mass civil disobedience is the first step towards taking our nation back from the authoritarians.
The number of individuals dying as a result of overdoses on illicit narcotic substances indicate enforcement is either not being carried out, or simply not doing any good. Therefore it is a false comparison. Firearms and their related components are recognized and protected by the united states constitution, while drugs are not.
So, what were people suppose to do with their full size 9mm for example? Do they even make a magazine for them that stays within the law?
