    One door closes/Another opens...
This is the best thing that ever happened to many of them...
An outpouring of support after things went viral...

Holy crapballs Batman, one “fosters freeze” location closed !!!!

You do understand that for every job that doesnt pay enough to lie, we taxpayers have to subsidize that low wage….right ?

It’s interesting how one of Gavin’s good buddies owns a chain of Panera restaurants all over the state, which are exempt from the $20/hr mandate because of how “bakery” is defined, and are therefore excluded from the mandate. Since they bake bread at Panera, no one at those restaurants is entitled to Comrade Newsom’s largesse.

    I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

Millions of Americans employed at some of the country's largest companies have had to rely on food stamps and Medicaid, with giants like Walmart and McDonald's employing the most workers whose income is subsidized by taxpayers.

As a result of plutocratic socialism, the top 1%, really the top 1% of the 1%, control more wealth than the nation's entire middle class.

Newsom is part owner of some restaurants and he’s exempt from the $20 min wage.

If this is just due to wages, why do other nations that have higher minimum wages than the US does also be able to offer food options below what we are paying?

Also to note: it looks like there are 62 (unclear if after this one it is 61) open locations of Fosters Freeze, down from high 67 or 68 (getting conflicting numbers) in 2022. So it already looks like around 3 are closing per year. So with one more closure the entire company gets to lower their wages back down to 16/hr

We start our employees at 17 in Tennessee — I don’t see how anyone could live off that in any part of California

Yah protecting workers from exploitation is always bad for bosses. Ending child labor also cost lots of jobs. So did laws around workplace safety.

The vast majority of the time when you allow elected Democrats to play with the purse strings and act like they understand math.... You get moronically retarded end results.

Do you not understand that they "protected" their asses right out of a job?

I'm sure the former employees are doing much better now.....

And they still have to compete for workers with places who do.

Fast food is always hiring. I’m betting this won’t have much impact on the unemployment rate.

I'm sure the now unemployed workers can take much solace in your opinion.... They can't really pay their light bills with it but I'm sure they would be pleased to know that that's what you think.

So put poor people out of a job and then put some other poor people out of places to go eat.

I swear that these elected Democrats couldn't get any more absolutely retarded if they tried... And I probably shouldn't insult retarded people because there should be a new word denoting the stupidity of these elected Democrats.

I'm sure there are plenty of fully functioning retarded people that know that such policies are idiotic.

    What a corrupt scumbag.
But I am sure that every progressive on this board could not wait to hurry up and vote for him if he was on the ticket this November

Isn’t it great that politicians can tell an employer what a employee is worth to them? And did you notice how Newsom carved out a single industry and left out the guys who mow lawns. I’m partially thinking Newsom & Co somehow calculated the extra state income tax into their decision along with the extra sales taxes generated when the burger flippers spend their money.

It’s CA. I’m sure we were helping them pay it before that anyway.

Interesting. So I guess you oppose low wage immigration into the US?

Meh, increases in operating costs are passed on the customer, and if this joint had customers they'd still be in business.

It's good to have an excuse though.

They're all working at Taco Bell now. Food is cheaper there and they manage to keep their restaurants open while paying a living wage.

If one's business can only get by with paying minimum wage, that business is unlikely doing well.

We lost our local McDonald's when pay was raised to $15.00 per hour a few years ago.

Higher pay could mean fewer restaurants because to keep costs the same restaurants
will need to have fewer workers overall,

or as in changing to a different type of restaurant, substitute beans for half of the beef and
save money that way. Out goes McDonald's in come Taco Bell.

Close places paying minimum wage and open insurance sales offices.

I 100% support a living wage. The idea that someone can work a full time job, and still require governmental assistance is crazy to me. But understand that when a low wage worker requires monetary assistance, that assistance is actually to the employer. Create living wages based on locality, and then nobody should need assistance.

In the same way conservatives tell worker that make low wages to “get a better job”, we need to do the same to the employer. If you cant pay your employees a living wage, then close shop and get a job yourself. But its not usually the mom and pop shops that abuse the systems, its the Amazons and the Wal-Marts of the world

https://blog.ucsusa.org/alice-reznickova/how-big-food-corporations-take-advantage-of-snap/#:~:text=The story repeats in all,the most employees using SNAP.

The 10 richest people have over a trillion dollars in wealth…..this is not sustainable…and many of them own companies whose people you and I are directly subsidizing thru our taxes, as well as the business themselves these people own, thru tax breaks and business incentives at the local level.

Hell Jeff Bezos is currently fighting tooth and nail to stop unionization at some of his locations. They guy with $800BILLION is fighting to keep his government handouts to his workers, and you are all screaming about the workers being greedy !!!!!
