Yeah, EVs are taking off in Thailand. So much so, that the government is now ending the subsidies - a sign that EVs are the new norm.

So far, the country has scored considerable successes, particularly in attracting major Chinese EV manufacturers to the country. In March, China’s BYD broke ground on an EV factory in Rayong, south of Bangkok, which is expected to start production in 2024 and will have an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles. In May, China’s Hozon New Energy Automobile will also set up a factory in Thailand to begin production of its NETA V model. Then, in August, Changan Automobile confirmed unofficial earlier reports by announcing that it would invest 1.83 billion yuan ($251 million) to set up a plant in Thailand with an annual capacity of 100,000 units.
    ...
“In the past two to three years after the government’s support, the rate of EV use in Thailand has greatly increased,” Narit said yesterday. “So support from the government will gradually reduce in line with the situation, in order not to cause too much of a burden on the budget.”

It's so important to come up with clever ways to recycle and use retired EV batteries, because so many of these countries are going full-steam-ahead on EVs. Singapore is another Asian country that is making huge strides, and also in the phase-out phase for subsidies.

SINGAPORE: An initiative encouraging more people to adopt electric vehicles (EVs) in Singapore will continue for two more years to end-2025, but with lower rebates in the coming year.

Both measures have helped to boost the adoption of cleaner energy cars, they noted, adding that cleaner energy car registration has increased to close to 70 per cent of all new car registrations in August.

They also noted that electric car registrations have risen steadily on a monthly basis since January to reach 23 per cent of new car registrations in August.

The city-state Singapore is an appropriate EV environment.

This San Diego company is doing something similar in the US!

Necessity is the mother of invention. CA has more electric vehicles than any other state. So all those retired batteries can be put to use. Summary: Battery with 80% or more of it's original charge - used in EVs
60% to 80% - used for Power Storage
    less than 60% - Recycled

First, this thread is about using retired batteries in charging stations or for electrical storage. They would be inspected and stored indoors for this purpose. Not much chance of damage occurring.

Second, check out the Blade Battery nail penetration test!

Thirdly, now you have an incredibly safe battery (and there are others beside the BYD Blade), versus an ICE car which has a gas tank just waiting to ignite and explode if there is damage.

With your logic, nobody should buy gas-powered vehicles.

Wonder where this misinformation came from? I'll bet it was posted all over this forum by the shills.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...exploding-natural-gas-car-not-ev/11597329002/

Fact check: Video shows exploding compressed natural gas vehicle, not electric car
A Facebook video shows a vehicle exploding at what appears to be a fueling station. A red object is projected away from the vehicle and flies off camera only to return and strike a nearby person.

"I see electric car charging is getting safer," reads the caption of the March 28 post (direct link, archive link).

The video was shared more than 24,000 times in eight days.

2100 is a long way off. Infrastructure changes are vital for the electrical grid of the US. Those changes are often a prerequisite to installation of fast charging stations in specific areas. Good forward-looking policy, something which Trump lacks.

I prefer a US without a lot of bedlam in the streets, and constant Hate rhetoric that fuels the fire. Off topic, but you brought it up. So in that sense - "I don't care about Trump".
