I am no Perry fan, but I think any prosecutor is going to have real trouble getting a conviction and an even worse time at the appellate level. You have to convince such a court to ignore separation of powers issues, and sustain the conviction a standing governor, based on his use of constitutionally vested powers to veto. They are not going to want to do it, and I am not sure I want them to. I think they will ask a lot of questions about whether this is really more of a political battle that the state legislature who wrote the statute should address using their powers to censure or impeach.

This liberal thinks that is very likely how appellate courts ( assuming a conviction) are likely to see this. They are going to wonder why the legislature should not be fighting this battle using their tool chest instead of the courts. I am nervous about it.

I heard that it was 3 felony counts, but the stenographer was somewhat dimwitted and could only remember two of them.;)

Pecos rick's chance to be potus evaporated at the debate where he couldn't even remember three things he would do as potus.
He is a perfect caricature of a dimwitted, mean-spirited right-wing pol who spends his time preening and posturing.

I enjoy the challenge . . . though in Obama's case, it's never really much of a challenge since he's the only Dem Party president of the last century to make Jimmy Carter look competent in comparison. Look a two-for!

This is the same bullcrap Democrat that witch hunted Tom Delay with a select Grand Jury and judge. Tom Delay was later 100% over turned and exonerated.

If anyone has seen the video of this piece of crap Democrat 3X the legal drunk limit busted for driving in jail throwing a fit, they would not be behind her. She was sticking her tongue out, kicking things, throwing fits, she had to be restrained and strapped down, and treating everyone like crap with a "Do you know who I am?" demeanor. She's pure garbage.

She was allowed to keep her position after this outrageous acts.

This is another political witch hunt by this leftists. A Governor absolutely gets to threaten veto's. What is telling is that the Grand Jury REFUSED to call Rick Perry himself to testify. These are the same tactics they used on Delay.

No surprise given how corrupt the party of "moral & Christian" values always turns out to be.

What will be a surprise is if a Republican appellate court allows any conviction to stand. This given the corruption and politics of the state's judicial system.

This has nothing to do with the veto and everything to do with the threat he issued before the veto. The threat shows his veto was based on trying to oust a District Attorney who is also a Democrat. By trying to force her to resign, he would have been able to appoint someone to her office.

I have no idea what that has to do with the topic.

Funny, that same democrat blew three times the legal limit when arrested for a DWI, and then didn't have the decency to reign from public office as a DA, who throws people in jail for doing the same exact thing she did. Poor wittle democrat, getting picked on for no reason.

Rick Perry can always switch parties then it will be OK to abuse power. Sounds like he would make a great Democrat candidate for President.

You left out the part that she lead a public integrity unit and had been convicted of drunk driving but refused to resign.

Which she certainly should have.

However, does that mean that Rick Perry can do as he pleases to try and force her out of her elected office, up to an including vetoing funds that were for a department that had an active investigation against him?

I am of the mind he should have probably left the entire situation alone. His actions, his using his office for such actions reek of an abuse, and certainly one can make an argument that his impropriety in such actions can be considered illegal.

So firing a government official for endangering lives is now considered political? Let me know when their's an actual "scandal" and then I might agree with you.

Rick Perry had the power to fire an elected official? That is a new twist on the reality of the situation. I am not aware of anywhere in this country that one elected official can strip another elected official of office simply on a whim or desire.

How exactly does that work?

- - - Updated - - -

Ah, the snotty insult, the deflection, the assigning of a false position, and then arguing against said false position. Certainly the harbingers of a failed argument.

Perhaps you would be better served taking me to task on what I said and my actual positions as opposed to making (*)(*)(*)(*) up about me and then condemning me for your inventions.

ooh, a bit sensitive, are we? You know it's the truth, Fast and Furious? IRS? Benghazi? Immigration crisis?
Wow, what's good to find in any of that? Talk about corruption, but let's deal with the Fed level, where it all begins.
Remember, our Fearless Leader sets an example, eh?

Nothing like making stuff up when you can't think of anything clever to say...
Perry joins Chris Christy, and Bob McDonnell, as appealing candidates for 2016 that have been eliminated from consideration.

What's left? Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann?

Have we not learned to not convict anyone online yet? Innocence until proven guilty is still the law I believe. Both parties are made up of whores so one should really watch what they post as the time will come when one's words are used against their favorite brothel...

A perp walk would do just fine.

We got a similar thing going on out here where elected are trying to get restraining orders against the AGs office. Apparently, politicians don't like people investigating their malfeasance.

Poor choice of words.

So forcing a government official to resign for endangering lives is now considered political?

Is that better for you?
