yeah prohibition was such a wonderful time in this countries' history. By all means let's have a do over. Sarcasm off.

Get back to me when McDonald's has roving teams kidnapping people and shoving burgers down the throat til they puke.

At least rifles are one of the very few products Walmart sells that are made in the USA.
But to go back to the original thread about banning Walmart from selling guns. Sure, and we can also ban their sale of tobacco, alcohol, sugary drinks, cleaning chemicals (over 1 million children get poisoned each year with those), the list is endless.

"Wheel of Fascists", with Benito Sajak and the always stylish Vanna Hitler, is their favorite game show.

When I was a kid growing up in the 1950's one could walk into a lot more stores than just Walmart and buy a gun. There weren't any gun control laws I can think of back then outside of one having to have a federal permit to own a machine gun. No background checks, nothing. Heck, one could order and buy guns out of numerous catalogs. Yet there was just one mass shooting that entire decade. I remember my dad gave me a .410 for my twelfth or thirteenth birthday and I as a young tike could go into town and buy shells for it at the Western Auto. No questions asked.

The problem is within our society as a whole, not with guns. Something happened to it, But instead of trying to figure out what happened, what went wrong with our society, we try to ban guns. We ignore the root of the problem and try an easy fix. If only we banned all guns, we would have a society of angels. It doesn't work that way. Banning guns is like putting a bandaid over a sucking chest wound. Banning guns make people feel good, like they have done something, accomplishing something. But that is a false feeling, they in reality have done nothing but ignore and try to cover up the root of the problem. But that is our society today. Do things that make us feel good, even thought what you do doesn't help one iota. But hey, you feel good.

Actually more people per capita were getting killed back then (unless you are talking pre-1960).

And Amazon itself for print books. We forget that's how it started--as the super online bookstore.

We stopped blaming criminals for crime and started blaming society in the sixties and we did away with three strikes laws, and we got three decades of ever increasing crime. Then we decided the decided in the 80's that criminals lacked self esteem and crime got not only more common but more violent, then about the mid nineties we reintroduced 3 strikes rules and made it easier for civilians to be armed, and instead of blood in the streets all types of crime fell significantly over the next two decades. Now the left with predictable stupidity is trying to blame guns for crime instead of criminals never mind that year in and year out guns are more frequently used to prevent crime than they are used by criminals in commission of crimes.

I think you got something. We did use to blame the criminal for his crime. Now it is his environment, his family or lack thereof, his education level, it is everything and everybody else that is responsible except the criminal himself.
