    .............unless it's a deliberate attempt to get these organised troublemakers to post on the popular social websites an indication they will be going elsewhere, in which even the police will be one step ahead.

    Don't underestimate the duplicity of British politicians.

    It would be far smarter to just monitor twitter from a carnivore-style program.

    The last thing you want to do is cause these people to go underground in their methods. Having them out in the open allows you to catch people much faster.

    It's what the British did with printing presses in 1775 and '76 too. It doesn't work; trust me: it only makes people more determined.

    It would only inflame the populace to further violence.

    Honestly, riots went on long before the internet. Does the government really think people need twitter or facebook to take to the streets?
