    Rockets Resume: Qassam Hits Kindergarten

Two rockets were fired from Gaza into the Negev - one seriously damaged a kindergarten that had, thank G-d, closed for the day.

Gaza terrorists launched two Qassam rockets at Israel's communities in the western Negev late Tuesday afternoon.

One rocket hit a local kindergarten. There were no physical injuries in the attack, but the kindergarten was badly damaged.

The other rocket exploded in an open area in the western Negev. No physical injuries or property damage was reported.

The rocket attacks mark a continuation of the airstrikes-for-rocket-attacks paradigm that has defined Israel's poor security situation in the south for many years.

Earlier on Tuesday, IDF chief of staff Benny Gantz told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee a resumption of rocket fire from Gaza would necessitate a major operation aimed at changing strategic realities vis-a-vis Hamas and its terror allies in Gaza.

However, Gantz also balked at a prolonged operation, which many analysts say would be required for an operation to have a lasting impact on Gaza's terror infrastructure.

“We will need to shorten the length of fighting as much as possible," Gantz said.

The Pals are about to reap what they have sown. There is no justification for launching those rockets into Israel.

Actually, violent resistance against an occupier is legal. People have the right to resist colonial domination from an alien occupation, or resist racist or illegal practices of the occupier. This is stipulated in article 1 of the Protocol 1 of the Geneva Conventions. An attempt to to abolish a struggle that is against a possible racist, colonial regime, or alien occupier is not compatible with the UN Charter, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, or Declaration on Granting of Independence of Colonial Countries and Peoples.

The struggle of the Palestinians in the occupied territories is a legitimate one.

Even though this is the case, the organizations launching rockets (like in this article you provided) into Israel are not legal, since they have the intention to possibly hit civilian targets. I say this because it goes against principles of war, such as distinction, and proportionality. So, it can be interpreted as a war crime, since most cases are just indiscriminate attacks without contempt of what it may hit. Although, I'd like to point out that human rights reports claim Israel has done this exact same thing, as we have seen during both Operation Defence Shield and Operation Cast Lead (including several other cases not related to these either operation).

Israel should employ the same type of rocket attacks used by the Palestinians. Let Israeli vigilantes fire rockets indiscriminately into Palestinian neighborhoods. And let the Israeli govt. tell the world that it can't control these people. That's the approach Hamas takes. Something like this vigilante action is already happening on the West Bank.

In your opinion there is 'no justification'. Unfortunately your opinion counts for nothing in law. Read post #2 and get back to us on this.

Nope, it's legitimate and legal resistance to an illegitimate and illegal occupation.

No it is not. They have a government that refuses to negotiate a peace treaty. You are taking it out of context, If they want to rebel it should be against the Palestinian government

Rubbish, dishonest rubbish. I guess you missed the video of Netanyahu bragging how he deliberately derailed the Oslo peace accord, probably the best attempt at a negotiated settlement we have had. If their government does not negotiate then these rockets are acts of terrorism. You are showing your hate by taking the Geneva convention out of context

The Geneva Conventions apply in all circumstances. How are they being taken out of context in this case? I also notice your lack of response to my posting of Netanyahu's confession...perhaps you might care to respond. After all it takes two to tango, as they say, and Netanyahu obviously doesn't want to dance.

Whatever Israel does in response to them Palestinian rockets, they'll be perfectly justified.

"If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep at night, I'm going to do everything in my power to stop that," candidate Obama said on July 23, 2008.

Exactly, when the Pals put on uniforms and fight like soldiers and not like terrorists, then they will have some sort of honor. Until then, they are war criminals for launching rockets like that.

    I did.

    You should to.

Believe it or not I agree; and the Goldstone Report was equally condemnatory of Israel in that regard.

Did Netanyahu derail peace talks by his own admission? A simple 'yes' or 'no' will do.

I wouldn't go down that road-Israeli has been guilty of so many violations of Geneva that I stopped counting. Here's just one example: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/1682640.stm

Nice deflection. I'll take that as a 'yes' then, in the absence of any substantial rebuttal.

The pro-Palestinian person will read this story and say that Qassam needs more accurate rockettes; the pro-Israeli person will note that it was sheer luck no kindergarden kids were killed (and no, they weren't next to a military facility). My view is that this points out the sheer stupidity of the rockette campaign.

No it is the Palestinian government that does not want peace and keeps the people poor. Yet Arafat's widow lives the good life on Palestinian money

Your video means nothing since it is 10 years old

Islam and the Palestinians are violent, it is best to pay them back in ten times the amount of damage done. Animals do not learn from generosity.

I wonder why this ' story ' doesn't appear to hold any significance for the Israeli press ?

And whose state are the Israelis occupying? Ya that's what I thought the Geneva Conventions don't apply to un-sovereign territories and since Egypt and Jordan renounced claims to said territories they are now in dispute as to who holds sovereignty over them, and; furthermore, these rockets came from Gaza and as we all know Israeli forces have long ended a presence on the Gaza strip and that Gaza and the West Bank have two clear and distinct governing regimes. Thanks for playing.
