That’s because you specify that option on a tax return and there is relatively short time between a tax return being filed and the payment.
IRS won’t be digging through tax returns from a year ago and EFT funds to those accounts. They’ll be mailing checks based on last known address.

So everyone who doesn’t need a hand out gets to fund those who do. Cool socialism bro.

Not all conservatives are sold on the handout idea. I consider myself a right-leaning moderate and I don’t support such massive spending.
11 years ago I lived in MN and when the handout idea and massive bailouts were discussed I reached out to my senator (he was a republican) and presented my arguments against it. I got back an automated email that was obviously pre-written on the subject. I voted for a Al Franken just to unseat Norm Coleman. He ended up losing that seat and MN got a new senator. I don’t care that he was a Democrat - I felt like Norm Coleman is the guy who just goes with the flow and doesn’t seem to have personal beliefs.

This massive spending deal might end up backfiring to republicans. For president if Dems have sanders or Biden then I vote trump, but I’ll definitely vote against current senators and HR rep if they vote for this massive spending package. I am not sure if they deal already passed, but I will definitely check the voting record when it’s closer to November.

What’s wrong with the idea of self-reliance?

Sure. Let's keep borrowing and spending and leave the next generation holding the bag. Here is an idea. If you or anyone else wants $1000 go earn it.

Except, with massive layoffs and economic collapse (especially in the service industry), good luck with that.

It isn’t self-reliance when you support programs that benefit yourself and oppose those that you do not currently need — but then support them when you need them.

It is called hypocrisy, at best — a combination of greed wanting to see others suffer most likely

It is impossible to be “self-reliant” in a society. Ever called the police? Used federally subsidized programs or goods (like oil)?

So then we can count on you donating it back to the government then? That’s super awesome of you and would prove you are not a hypocrite.
All republicans should do this so they don’t participate in the socialism!

I won't be getting the $1000 as I make more than $65,000 per year.

It’s higher than that, 180k for a couple, around half for single.

A Republican making statements when they don’t know the truth... thats unusual...

I am still not eligible but I am glad it is going to many people that will need it.

All new spending is a tax hike later. You fell better knowing our kids will pay instead?

I decided not to buy a new TV until about the middle of June. By that point, the price of many TV's and a lot of other things will drop GREATLY. If I can buy an OLED TV that had a price of $1,500 in March for about $900 in June, it will be worth it to WAIT....

Why do people buy TVs these days? I can’t tell the difference in TVs from 5 years ago and today.

If your for giving money to the NDA, The Kennedy Center, Student Loan forgiveness & funding of the Green New Deal instead of helping small businesses, then vote democratic.

Romney has no clout anymore... he is a lame duck RINO senator. Your welcome to take him into the Democratic Party.

I couldn't tell much difference in the quality of TV screens until I had cataract surgery in both eyes a couple of years ago. WOW! Oh, yeah, there's a big difference in these screens now, and I don't have to use my imagination to see it, either....

OLED screens are the best for sure, but they cost a hell of a lot more than top-class LED screens with IPS technology.

I should have guessed the reason I have not received a $1200 check in the mail yet is cause originally it was a Mitt Romney idea
