I watched the service as it unfolded at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Beautiful, heart-felt music, wonderful, equally heart-felt speeches, a real togetherness. The music was all picked out by Rosalynn in advance and she wanted the main musical selection to be "America the Beautiful".

Special moment when former President Jimmy Carter was wheeled-in (it was not a sure thing that he would be able to attend) and also took part in the ceremony. The guy who wheeled him in, a young black man, then went to the back of the church and was immediately ushered back front to the 2nd or 3rd row as thanks for his work in getting Jimmy to this day.

It is being reported that Rosalynn herself reached out to Melania Trump and personally invited her to come to her funeral when the time had come. Now, that's class and that's grace. And it's also class and grace that Melania Trump came to the Tribute service.

Jason Carter, the Carters' oldest grandson, gave a 9 minute eulogy that was filled with humor, kindness and humanity. It was quite clear that on this day, no one wanted to see the others as "Republicans" or "Democrats", but as Americans and as good, decent people.

It is being reported that Governor Brian Kemp and his wife Marty were deeply moved by the service and received with open arms by all at the Carter Center.

Rosalynn Carter was an exceptional human being, filled with love of neighbor as thyself, filled with a desire to help others. Our world is a little poorer, a little emptier without her.

And as for Jimmy Carter, I cannot even imagine that loneliness he must be feeling at having lost the love of his life. He does not look good at all, I do not think his hospice journey will be going on much longer and then he will be with his beloved Rosalynn. Then again, Jimmy Carter can surprise us all and maybe, just maybe, he will make it to 100. Either way, when the time comes, that man deserves a state funeral filled with decency, kindness and grace.

What a shame that events like these are sometimes necessary to get people to remember what basic decency is.

Kindness is a strength, not a weakness.

Rosalynn Carter's burial will be today. RIP, Rosalynn.

I think that with couples like that, he will join her very soon.
I think he was waiting because he didn't want to leave her alone.
Now his job is done. Bless him.

It was a truly beautiful service. And it was impossible not to be touched by all the tributes she received.
