An you dispute that notion, what are you communist? Don't you know that this country was put on Earth to serve Christ? How dare you suggest otherwise. You got love it when people finally tell you the truth of their beliefs.
Every now and then, you get a crystal clear window into why Alabama is one of the most uneducated, impoverished, backwards states decade after decade. Meanwhile, Roy Moore has requested that all counties drag their feet for 25 days, while attorneys across the state have been saying that those who start issuing licenses and performing marriages immediately are on safe legal ground. Most counties have ignored Moore, though individuals in probate offices around the state get someone else to do it while they hide behind their bibles in the corner. It has been kind of an entertaining circus.
Roy Moore is a prime example of why judges should NEVER be elected. I believe there was a thread asking about it, well heres your answer why it's a terrible idea.
And if Alabama had appointed judges, who do you think would appoint them. Luther Strange? Robert Bentley? The clowns in the almost-entirely-Republican legislature? The Baptists, who have a lot of political clout? Believe me, I would MUCH rather have Supreme Court justices elected in national elections, than have a President Cruz or Huckleberry or Sanitorium pick another Scalia.
The law of the land is secular. There is no way around that reality. No matter how much the religious reich wants to kick its feet and scream that isn't going to change.
