I've had Poles, Hungarians, Czhechs who lived under German occupations and Soviet occupation after supposedly being liberated. Everyone said they were treated better under German occupation (unless you were a Jew) than by the Soviets. The Soviets ganged rape the women and girls while forcing the husbands and sons to watch. The Soviets stripped the homes bare, including the food. If the Soviets came across a water closet toilet, after pulling the chan a few dozen times because they never seen such a contraption before, it was removed and sent back to mother Russia.

The atrocities committed by the Soviet troops were incomparable to the Germans who were highly disciplined soldiers, like soldiers are suppose to be.

Russia is one among many world powers, you seem to have the problem of compairing Russia to the US which is also a military superpower.

The whole point of the anti balistic missile shield in Europe is to eliminate most of Russia's potential to retaliate in the event of a US first strike, no more MAD, & help the US bully Russia into doing what the US tells it to do.

If that is the real attitude in Washington then it will almost certainly lead to war.

Russia is not trying to be a super power but it is working hard to defend it's self against one.

The worlds food production is petrol based - no petrol, not much food. Russia also manufactures 80% of it's own motor vehicles.

The US cannot sustain, economically, the defence spending of the US & it is now 18 trillion dolars in debt.

And does it realy matter if Washington is turned to molten glass by an unexpectedly successful Russian retaliation or if it is smothered in radioactive dust from it's own attack on Russia?

I read in a site that Nuland was freaking out about the electronic warfare on the American ship in the Black Sea, and how all their equipment was made useless, and that she was also furious about Russia giving some high tech equipment to France which enabled them to sink an American ship in games off the coast of Florida.

We have to remember also what the German army did to them. Twenty seven million Russians were killed, and most of them were civilians. They suffered the most in WWII. Anyway the Germans were pagans, and the Russians were atheists so what can you expect?

 

More civilians are killed during war than soldiers. That's the result of modren warfare.

I've talked to dozens of Poles, Czechs and Hungarans who lived through German occupation during the war and then under the Soviets occupation.

It wasn't Disneyland living under German occupation and death was certain if you were a Jew. But all said the German soldier was very disciplined, respected personal property and didn't rape their women folks.

One guy (Hungarian) told me when the Germans took over their home to be used as a command post they were moved to the barn. The Germans fed the entire family every day. When they got out of Dodge, all of their belongings were still in the house.

When the Soviets arrived, they took all of the females in the family preteen to the grandmother and forced the husband and his sons watch while dozens of Soviet soldiers gang raped them.

After that, they stripped the house clean, they took every thing that could be carried away from the house including the toilet.

 

The Soviets were not all Russians, and as I said the communists were atheists...they were ruthless everywhere. I'm sure the 'white' Russian army had it still existed, would have acted differently. The German army though was disciplined. I know of a relative on a Greek island who a German soldier made a pass at. Her father complained to the officer in charge and he told him to point him out, but he refused to so as not to get him in trouble.

Seven hundred million in Greece did starve, and it was a form of genocide. I know that families which were blond and looked German were given food. The communist resistance though was more brutal, and probably more died under them than under the Germans.

 

A former business associate of mine is German. He comes from a very affluent family in Berlin. I've seen pictures of the family home that's been in the family for hundreds of years. It's in a neighborhood of Berlin which you could say is the Beverly Hills of Berlin.

He was 12 years old during the Battle of Berlin in 1945. When the Soviet solders crashed through the door of the house and started plundering, carrying every thing out of the house loading them in trucks to be driven back to Russia he was hiding in the basement with his mother, brother and sister. He was expecting seeing white Russians but when the Soviet soldiers came down the stairs, they were Cossacks.

 

I always thought is was a greater honor for the enemy to die in battle. To each his own.

 

Well each nations military is diffrent. During WW ll it was an honor to die for the Emperor of Japan, only after you have already killed 10 U.S. Marines.

During the 1960's Marine Corps DI's use to tell their recruits that you had to get permission to die in combat.

But there is some truth what Destroyer of Illusions says, there are 10 million young men of military age in Russia just itching for Putin to give the word to pick up an AK-74's and fight for mother Russia.

The My Lai incident wasn't a war crime. If the incident were have taken place in Cambodia or Laos, then it might have been a war crime.

The Saigon government refused to file charges so Lt. Calley was tried under the UCMJ for murder. The American people were loud and clear back in 1971, Lt. Calley was not guilty. Remember, most of the adult population back then were baby boomers where 80% of the male baby boomers served during WW ll. They looked at war differently than those liberals who never served.

The My Lai hamlets were VC, the village inhabitants were the enemy. But they were unarmed. So if the incident were have happen outside the RVN, it would likely fall under being a war crime.

Those who never served and experienced combat, shouldn't be passing judgement on those who have.

The Russian Economy CANNOT RECOVER unless Putin agrees to a DEAL with the United States!!!!
