You are out of touch. Shouldn't you be more concerned with the poverty closer to home? A real 'art'.

Most surely, I do. Stalin sent anyone who got ideas about freedom and independence to their deaths, and now the simian in the Kremlin has chosen to crawl in his footsteps.

Indeed, the "progressives" in our educational system do a woefully inadequate job of educating our youngsters about the Soviet Union and how the "progressives" running that country destroyed the lives of hundreds of millions of people. It's kind of a Walter Duranty thing.

Yet, the unfortunate irony is that thanks to the old KGB goon in Moscow, Russia is becoming increasingly indistinguishable from the USSR...

It's a damned shame, and one couldn't help but be struck by the fact that Putin's invasion of Ukraine came with days of the anniversary of Boris Nemtsov's assassination in Moscow.

It's entertaining watching you deny how bad life Vladimir Putin's bosses made life for people in Russia and elsewhere in the CCCP. Standing in lines all day just for the chance of getting your hands on scarce basic necessities was the national pastime, and soon everyone in Russia - except for Putin and a privileged few of course - will get to relive the halcyon days of the Soviet Union.

    Remember this, Mr. Memory Refreshment?

    I do.

I wonder where THAT fits in with Vlad the Invader's nostalgia trips, or yours for that matter.

    Care to share?

We have a crappy, improperly funded education system. The idea of Universal Education goes back to the 1800s, and is a Progressive idea. Reactionaries have fought against it since the beginning.

What's more, intellectually, improving education has been a Progressive goal for longer than you've been alive, and it's not hard. Politically, it's impossible, but I can lay out one way in 2 words. Copy Finland.

We have "Universal Education" K-12. It has been working so libs had to wreck it with CRT and that silly "Common Core".

Nope. Your claim is a mere tissue of lies in the service of Putin's propaganda.

Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs warns against protests, according to state media

From CNN's Nathan Hodge in Moscow

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs warned Thursday against calls for unauthorized protests against the war in Ukraine and said it has introduced "extra measures to ensure law and order," Russian state news agency TASS reported.

The ministry warned that all attempts to carry out unsanctioned actions will be stopped, and their organizers and participants will be prosecuted, TASS said.

OVD-Info, an independent monitoring group that tracks detentions in Russia, says over 7,500 people have been arrested in anti-war protests over the past week.

Authorities in Russia forbid rallying without a permit and may consider broadcasting or reporting specific information on unauthorized rallies to be considered organizing illegal protests.

Keep up the fight, dear Russians of conscience! Those of you standing up to Kremlin censorship and use of force are heroes as well!

Not what I would pick, but it would likely be an improvement. Don't know much about the structure of the system, but I do like the way they get, and hold, teachers.

CRT is taught in colleges, and racists are trying to kill it there.

Common Core was Bush 2, a typical Republican disaster.

Germany's bad. You are essentially ASSIGNED to "gymnasium" and go to trade school or "university" and go to college.

They seem to do a good job getting people prepared to succeed in some field. They work closely with industry and offer a lot of different tracks for students to take in their middle-high school years and beyond. Higher education is affordable.

CRT is taught in grammar and high schools now, where parents fight it.
You, sir, are either a propagandist or just grossly misinformed.

Critical Race Theory is being taught in public schools coast to coast:

Common Core was an Obama initiative:

The people wringing their hands over Critical Race Theory don't even understand it. The right-wing jumped on it simply because it sounds scary. Critical Race Theory! Ooooh!!!

Anyway, let's not derail this thread over talk of the US education system or right-wing talking points.

There's nothing scary about CRT at all. It simply states that the USA is a racist nation and has always hounded minorities. Its not scary... its just left wing, anti-American BS.
