San Francisco hospitals report hundreds of COVID-19 infections among vaccinated staff

I wonder if my choice to get vaccinated was a good idea. It turns out that most the cases of covid in this hospitals staff was fully vaccinated. it raises the question Why are the fully vaccinated more prone to this variant?

You are looking at it from the wrong angle. These people are exposed to sick people all day. The probability of catching any contagious disease is always higher in hospitals and schools.

 

Just further proof that this latest variant is powerful enough to get through to people who have had their vaccinations. A lot of trumpers ask "why going back to masks again?". That's the answer.

A vaccinated person can still catch the virus and transmit it. A vaccinated or unvaccinated asymptomatic person can have the virus and transmit it. So, in this situation, the ratios wouldn't necessarily matter.

Who knows. At this point the virus is mutating and all those jabs were designed before it got to Delta. Maybe they helped you avoid one of the other strains. IDK. I am not going to get the booster. The vaccine has reduced hospitalization in the UK by 95% and we in the UK have the delta variant. The vaccine also reduces rate of transmission resulting in lowering the rate of mutations. The unvaccinated will be the prime host for the virus to run through to eventually reach a variant that will not be so serious and will be treated just like seasonal flu. So we should thank the unvaccinated for volunteering to be the guinea pigs for the virus to replicate in

That 95% of patients did not have the vaccine does not mean that the vaccine reduced hospitalizations by 95%

 

Infections among the vaccinated is a very difficult subject to understand – to understand it you need a knowledge of math at least 8th grade level.
The vaccine has an efficacy of about 95%, it means that if we had 100% vaccination rate, out of 7,000 vaccinated staffers we expect that 350 still will get infected.

So don’t worry, getting vaccinated was a good idea.

I read it. It still makes me wonder though. It also makes me wonder why they call it a vaccine. The flu shot is a shot. The things we are vaccinated for doesn’t hit us at all as far as I know. So why this one? I’m not so sure this mRNA was the best idea. All in all I blame China for accidentally letting a snake in their neighbors houses without telling them.
