CHICAGO (WLS) -- Migrants from the U.S.-Mexico border woke up in Chicago Thursday morning. They reached Union Station Wednesday night after being bused from Texas.

The city is working with numerous community agencies and the governor's office to take care of the basic needs of the migrants who are now here in Chicago, but the issue has also become very political -- with the migrants caught in the middle.

"This is a very important moment for a city to stand up and unite and help these individuals start the next chapter of their lives on solid ground, solid footing," said Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

How is busing them to other cities that aren't overwhelmed inhumane?

Shouldn't those cities want to do their part and not place all the burden on border states? After all, they support the lack of border security allowing this to happen. It only stands to reason that they would want to help with the consequences of policies (or lack there of) they support

I don't want to speak for another poster. But it seems like he's implying its OK to have these "problems" in red border states but not in superior blue sanctuary cities? Its just an assumption, not trying to put words in his mouth. That sure is what it sounds like though.

 

Nope, I'm saying that its not ok for one state to ship illegal immigrants to another state for the sole purpose of causing trouble in the receiving state.

I realize that for some people like Abbott, who don't see immigrants as human beings but rather as pawns to move around a political chessboard as election fodder, inhumane treatment may not be readily recognizable.

 

How about if you start there. Show the board the causation between increased numbers of illegal aliens coming over the border and Biden's policies. Not correlation, causation. Then we can have an informed discussion.

Why would I need to prove something I did not assert? Interesting. There is nothing mentioned about preventing them from crossing the border in the first place. Why is "band-aid" fixes the go-to method of the left?

Because those cities declared their love of illegal aliens, offering them sanctuary. Since they DID declare that, then the Gov who's sending them is doing it for all the right reasons. Kindness, helpfulness, and a keen interest in making sure these New Americans are in the most welcoming place.
