Scalise: 'It's Time to Open Up the People's House, Let the Public Back In'

(CNSNews.com) - The U.S. Capitol complex has been closed to visitors since the onset of the COVID pandemic in March 2020, but press reports say that's about to change -- somewhat.

The FOX affiliate in Washington, D.C., reported on Monday that "phase one" of the reopening plan will begin on March 28, when groups of up to 15 people will be allowed into the Capitol for office visits or staff-led tours.

Citing "sources," FOX-5 reported that public tours also will resume, but only for school groups between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

"Think about this, they still can't let go of the power -- they want to control people's lives," Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) told "The Ingraham Angle" Monday night.

"Weeks ago, the United States Senate unanimously passed a resolution to say, open up the Capitol. Imagine that's every Republican and every Democrat in the Senate saying, let's open up the Capitol.

"Pelosi doesn't want to let go of the power, and so she still has held it shut down.…

It is typical of the power mad speaker, ice cream princess, wicked witch of the west to bitterly cling to power like this. Almost everything is re opening and free of restrictions upon we the people, the general public. The senate wants to fully re open while the speaker holds on to her power and the ridiculous fence.

 

Scalise is right. It’s time to let us in!

 

I agree that the US Capital shoudl be open again, but with conditions. First, enough Capital Police officers so that no unruly crowd will get their way, no firearms onto the capital building by the Public, and yes, that includes the security screening searching for such things. Third, as long as when Congress is in session, no outbursts by anyone to disrupt the business of the House or Senate.

But then again, I guess this is the new "battle cry" of the reelection by the GOP.

 

Is that supposed to be somehow different than it was pre pandemic? Most of the disruptions of the capitol pre pandemic were caused by those on the left.

You mean protests over George Floyd? If social justice protests are considered insurrection, then the worst is someone name Martin Luther King Jr and the infamous crossing of Birmingham Bridge.

1/6 was much different. The people who stormed the capital, the ones who wanted to remove, hang, eliminate, get rid of, any politician they seem "corrupt" and not allow the Constituional Process of counting the Electoral Votes is an insurrection by definition.
