Scalia, the longest-serving justice on the Supreme Court, was appointed by President Ronald Reagan and was known for his acid tongue and snarling attacks on what he perceived as fuzzy liberal logic. He died at a hunting camp near Marfa, Texas, according to news reports that said his death was confirmed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

Scalia’s death sets in motion a scramble to select a new justice who will reliably vote with the court’s liberals but can get past a U.S. Senate controlled by the Republican Party. Already, the Hill is reporting Republicans will block any Obama nominee, with a spokesman for Sen. Mike Lee, a GOP member of the Judiciary Committee, immediately tweeting out: “What is less than zero? The chances of Obama successfully appointing a Supreme Court Justice to replace Scalia?”

Obama is in Palm Springs at this minute and it's where he will begin his search for either a gay or transgender Supreme Court Justice nominee.

Palm Springs is packed with gays, lesbos and TG's every weekend.

He can't. He will make another ultra-liberal appointment, and then the nomination will sit until the next President is sworn in. The DNC will whine for a year, but it won't matter. A Conservative President will chose Scalia's replacement.

To the victor, belong the spoils. President Obama will appoint a Supreme Court replacement and Senator Mike Lee's wish has a zero chance of happening.

What conservative has a Chinaman's chance of winning in November? I sure don't see one. If the GOP tries to deny the twice elected president his absolute right to appoint a replacement for Justice Scalia (RIP) they will not only be beaten soundly in the Presidential election, but may lose the Senate and Congress as well. This bunch of whiney losers that run today's GOP are a disgrace to our country.

Unless the appointee is a criminal or morally repugnant, President should get his appointee approved.

    - - - Updated - - -

Obama can make a recess appointment if the GOP refuses to start hearings.

Maybe you haven't looked at who the DNC is running. A traitor in drag, and old-school communist. You know that the DNC is in trouble when they try to coax a Vice President that can't keep from saying stupid things, and/or a nanny-stater to run.

Keep dreaming about a return to 2008. The US population still remembers what that was like, and have thoroughly rejected it. I have seen nothing to suggest that the current trend of the country moving right will be reversed.

Rubio consistently beats Hillary Clinton in head to head match ups.

And a presidents right to appoint is NEVER absolute. Otherwise Robert Bork would've spent several decades on the Supreme Court

I still don't see any conservative candidate with a chance of winning. Trump is the odds on favorite and he is certainly not a conservative. Bush, Rubio and Kasich are about the same as Hillary Clinton, not really conservatives either. Cruz is the only real conservative, but everybody hates him and he has NO chance of being elected. If you think that people will not remember what was happening in 2008, you are mistaken. If I recall correctly, we were deeply embroiled in two bloody wars and the economy was on the verge of total collapse. That's why Trump has a chance and Bush is being humiliated. Trump has trashed the GOP as much or more than he has trashed the Obama administration. That's why he is winning, not because he is a conservative.

Rubio is a real long shot to win the nomination, let alone the general. He has all the political gravitas of Dan Quayle. No chance. We might get Trump vs Sanders. I would love to see that race, and would gladly support whoever wins that one.

Disgusting that the Republicans are politicizing the Supreme Court nomination process and the death of Scalia. Justices have been nominated & approved during a President's final year, 5 times in the last century.

Why is it "politizing the Supreme Court" when Conservatives want to block a liberal justice being appointed but when liberals wish to block a conservative being appointed it is the Senate doing "their duty" and/or "exercising due diligence"

I think in the end whomever replaces Scalia it will mean a loss to individual liberties and a gain for group security. Scalia was one of a very few and at times seemed to be the only one to take the framers original intent and read the constitution in plain English. With his passing it means more government power and less individual freedoms.

That's because now we have a so-called "democratic" branch of our government that is so far to the Left and with a liberal dominance over the media.

The People of the USA voted in 2012 to re-elect Obama.

that means they also want him selecting judges for the Appeals Courts and the Supreme Court.

by refusing to even allow hearings, the GOP is going against the will of the people.
