Very nice. In addition to 'peace' they bring rape and disease apparently.

You are supporting the notion, right, that cholera in a country devastated by earthquake and abandoned for two years with no infrastructure must have been introduced by the UN ?

I am supporting the overwhelming scientific evidence that a country where cholera didnt exist before a particular UN peacekeeping camp was set up,now has it.

    You're kidding...right?

The up rise of disease in a tiny third world country...after a devastating earthquake destroyed pretty much everything. Dead are rotting in the streets, no food, running water, and precious little medical means.

But the UN peacekeepers brought the cholera?

    I find it doubtful.

Mr'Relevant' has often stated that he has an axe to grind in matters involving the law and the United Nations. I wasn't expecting cholera-ridden UN personnel to be introducing new bacteria to the world though.

Why the UN even denies is intriguing since they already agreed about the strains source....

Cholera of Asian origin isnt going to just show up Hait because of post earthquake trauma. Haitis been a craphole since well before the earthquake and they managed to fend off cholera for a 100 years.

Well if they received any food aid from Asia then it may have been contaminated hence why many people wash and cook their food it is not uncommon for traces of fecal matter to be on or in food. It seems more likely that people did not prepare their food and their infected waste ended up in the river. The UN isn't a good organization nor are many countries or NGOs that are in Haiti but none of them did this at least not on purpose.

Who said it was on purpose? Its bureacracy and incompetence that is the hallmark of UN failure.

Id think the peacekeepers would have been screened for such things at the very least.

However looks the sewage treatment and outsourcing also played a hand.

Perhaps theyll be more careful from now on.

Oh sorry I assumed you meant it was on purpose. The UN will never function well it was a stupid idea to begin with like the league of nations. I doubt they'll be more careful, at worst they get a little bad press at best though the Haitians will throw them out.

Bureaucracy and incompetence are not the infectious agent in cholera.

Obviously could not have been caused by a massive tsunami and earthquake breaking suage pipes and contaminating ground water. Of course its the UN..... I have never seen a natural disaster cause unsanitary conditions which allow disease to spread before.

Conditions for the spread of chloera are rife in many parts of the un developed parts of the world, yet cholera is not endemic to these areas. What is needed is these conditions and the introduction of a cholera bacterium. The introduction came at the hands of Nepalese soldiers (who had come from areas with this strain of bacterium) and the conditions of Haiti spread it. The U.N. is no more morally responsible for this than the US is morally responsible for the actions of those soldiers in Afghanistan who pissed on dead bodies. The responsibility lies with the immediate leaders of the people on the ground. Legal responsibility of course is a different matter; lawyers always look for the deepest pockets.

80% of the American people think "thats war" while the 20% Libs are outraged. Seems to me that killing them is worse then peeing on them but according to Islam and the promise of 72 Virgins, I think the Muslims don't agree.

The diseases were brought to the western hemisphere by europeans, particularly the english and their scots stooges.
