This is because water can move horizontally starting at the lowest elevations. I'm just saying you can't calculate an increase in sea level elevation without factoring in the new volume of space that the water will inhabit. Also, your 139.4 million square miles of ocean water are not going to warm and expand all at the same time so maybe just 40% of the ocean water heats and expands...

You need to study why the deserts are mostly located at certain latitudes to understand your comment above...

Don't tell me what I need to study. May be y'all need to study some. It is called desertification.

All that can be said here is that you are still VASTLY underestimating the area of the worlds oceans. Look at it this way, If every single coast in the world flooded inland for a mile ... that would increase the oceans SURFACE AREA by 600,000 square miles (600,000 miles of coastline x 1 mile flooding inland = 600,000 square miles)

Now compare your new 600,000 square miles to the already existing 139,400,000 square miles of ocean .... can you see now that it would be a MINISCULE part of that water rise? To cover the new ocean area would take 1/200th of the inch you gained.

I have no idea what you are trying to say here. I am talking about surface area ... you seem to be talking about volume.

If you are discussing sea level rise then you must discuss volume.

If you are discussing the heating of the ocean and it's expansion you must discuss volume.

The surface area of the ocean is a by-product of the volume of the ocean and the elevations and shapes of terrain.

I am discussing neither of those things ... I am addressing basic mathematics.

No it isn't. Changing the volume has a MINISCULE effect on surface area. I cannot over state the word MINISCULE in that statement. That's the part you are failing to grasp here. The math is in my last post for your perusal. You are welcome to show how the math is wrong.
