The Sleeping Giant, People's Republic of China, is awake. Our Secretary of State put us on notice in a 39 minute address this week. The speech is available in its entirety on youtube. whether i posted it or not. What do you think of China stepping up as the global power it is? Or are you waiting for Palin to strip naked while singing the National Anthem?
The Soviet Union rose and fell in the course of a century. China has been here for thousands of years.
The current leadership of China is in a race. That race is not with the USA but with its own people. Can this current leadership attain the power they need before the people, again and this time successfully, raise up and demand democracy. It's the race of all time.
Why don't you create another Palin thread. We can then discuss if I am responsible when she actually does strip naked if her public favor wanes.
The Soviet Union crumbled because you could never walk into WalMart and pick up product anywhere that said "Made in the USSR" on the bottom. China got that one figured out.
Odd, you can't walk into wal-mart and find much that says Made in USA on it today. If China just got sick of our complaints of trade imbalance and said, NO. We now have little industrial infrastructure to support ourselves. What little we do have doesn't function without International cooperation and support. They are the billionaires in human capital, we are the 300 millionaires. By Wal-Mart's rules...who is winning?
Sure you can. Especially if its a "Super- WalMart". But not so much otherwise. We are suffering for it, which only makes my point. China is not saying "No". Were they to play games, we would as well. Others would fill demand. WalMart.
Good point. Lots of growth there always, much like a dog tick hope it doesn't kill its host before someone notices.
