I am guessing 2 Trillion - Factor in the 1.2 Trillion already baked into the cake - big drop in revenue - say 600 billion as in 2009 - and we are on track for a 3.8 Trillion dollar deficit - a number that is so big - it doesn't even seem like real money anymore.

The Dow is now at the same place it was during Obama - obviously corona had an effect - but, did this great market Trump was boasting about have any clothes to begin with ?

Has either party ever really treated it like it was real money? I would say between the two the GOP does more than democrats. But not by much.

Democrats told us the Obama economy ended great. They can hardly complain if markets are at Obama levels, unless they are a bunch of hypocrites...

Democrats want to make the Corona virus as painful as possible. They will block virus relief just like they hide hurricane relief from hurricane victims and then write stories about how horrible trump is.

Wtf are you all up about ? - its a simple question. I stated that corona is an issue w/r to the economy - got that

The question is - was there something there to begin with - or was corona a bit of a straw that broke the camels back - broke the illusion of strength - and we are seeing the weak get weeded out.

Take the Shale Collapse for example - Shale was one of the many "wins" Trump used as examples of his plan working.

No need to get your Trump Partisan Pants on fire as I am not an anti Trumper. The question is legitimate - and asked by many who are Red or in the middle.

The economic conditions I am referring to have little to do with Trump - He was just guilty of taking credit for something he had little to do with .. and that something went sour - all politicians do this.

The pre-covid numbers were not impressive sans a few relatively low on the totem pole indicators like low unemployment.
Real wages did go up - but not much. Questionable whether they kept up with inflation - nothing to see here.

GDP growth had a brief spike to 3.5% for roughly a year and then went down around 2%. I would have expected a larger and more sustained blip - just on the basis of the massive increase in Gov't credit card (deficit) spending under Trump. Reagan's nitro injection was the same but had far bigger and more sustained result's - so by comparison this was a very small blip - which begs the question ... does the emperor have any clothes.

The Corporate Tax cut went into share buy-backs - part of which fueled a market rally - there were other factors - some related to good things Trump did such as - and getting rid of ridiculously stupid regulations - pro energy/pipeline stance - and other things.

Can't blame Trump for trying the Reagan experiment - as that is what his economic advisers were recommending - and Red Congress - desperate to fight the demographic wave.

I am just staring at the likelihood of a 3.8 Trillion dollar deficit - and going Wtf.

Sure - but what has that to do with whether or not the Emperor (the economy) has any clothes ?

So people who don’t work will get a check?

My buddies wife is addicted to prescription opioids & hasn’t worked in 25+ years.

    She is getting a check?
At least she thinks she is....

People who don’t work, should not get a check.

What are the democrats going to do for the illegals?

    Only time will tell....

McConnell has called two procedural votes in the midst of negotiations. So we know what those votes were cosmetic. Essentially a temper tantrum.

The reason Nancy is holding out, is because she knows that she can't trust McConnell.

Nancy has maximum leverage and if McConnell doesn't cave in...

...The failure to pass the aid package will be 100% on McConnell.

^That is inarguable and utterly beyond question
