the only thing the right wing is doing is prevent the left from fundamentally changing a constitutional republic into a leftist authoritarian state

Let's both save that line, for right after next year's election.

I don't think anyone expects this to become law. Still, it will allow the public to not only better understand how their High Court operates, but where the two major Parties' politicians stand, on the matter of ethics rules.

Best case scenario: the picture painted by these pre-election legislative fights, clarifies what a person is supporting, by voting for the GOP-- leading to a "Blue Wave," in 2024.

The interesting part to watch, will be seeing whether the Senate Republicans squash this effort, with a filibuster, or if they let it through the Senate, and leave it to House Republicans, to let this die, by never taking it up.

OK, Mr. Big Talker: give me an example of a law that Congress cannot pass, though not for any reason that could be cited from the Constitution.

I won't be holding my breath.

congress can only pass laws that it was delegated the power to do so in Article One Section Eight

nothing in the constitution says congress cannot pass laws dictating what you wear for example

Do you really think that's all it means to be authoritarian?

LOL-- it would seem to more likely follow, that people who start spinning, to backpedal on their claims ^^^ as soon as they are challenged on them, would be those who are accustomed to being wrong, and frequently losing (a.k.a. "losers").

They have proven, blatantly, that they are not capable of policing themselves. That's the whole point of this legislation.

    Nope.

As to "how is that authoritarian" if you don't understand that then we have nothing to talk about here.

As everyone was so elegantly told during Trumps presidency:

    Congress can decide what’s impeachable.

Also, they are taking gifts too. They are possibly using speaking events to hawk things, it’s a crap fest up there. They are all involved.

Sure it is. Others have the opinion you do, but the parties are reversed. They may even say the same as you: it’s not an opinion.
