Chicks with d!¢&s - should they compete in girls & women's athletics? How about using girls & women's locker rooms? I vote no on both, since I'm not delusional. Your mileage may vary.
this would seem to be a rather simple question, but you know some moron is going to come up with pictures of female bodybuilders and such to try and deny that there is any unfairness in allowing such stupidity.
I voted NO, but that vote DOES NOT apply to co-ed teams or leagues that allow men and women from the start.
I wouldn't pass a law for it, but it seems completely fair for athletic organizations to say no to trans athletes or impose other conditions that would maintain fairness. Using locker rooms is fine. As for any person, using locker rooms for perverted purposes is always illegal. So if they identify that way, and they mind their own business, other people should mind their own business too.
Can you imagine the body of Shaquille O'Neil banging up against the players of the WNBA? Why aren't women clamouring to invade male sports?
So you are fine with biological men competing in women sports then? And you are fine if organizations don't allow biological men. So is that the same thing as saying you don't care?
More like the decision should be made by those who know and love the sport, which would be the sports organizations. It will depend on the nature of the sport, the fans, and those who compete in it. It's sort of like saying some laws should be left to local governments rather than federal ones. Am I fine if a sport decides it's okay? Yes. They answer to their fans, not me.
Before title 9, decisions were made by those who knew and loved the sport. But it was decided that women had a right for their own category and a law was created. I assume you agree that title 9 should exist as a law? So if we already have a law protecting women...why is it not logical to overlap a law protecting biological women from having to compete against biological men?
I guess you could justify a federal ban that way, but I don't think it's the ideal approach. This isn't about men discriminating against women. This is about people with mental illnesses wanting to compete in sports, but their condition gives them an unfair advantage. Under what conditions, if any, can they participate? I would ask the people who make the rules for the sport. One could argue that this potential unfair advantage disappears if they never went through male puberty, or if they have been on medicines to suppress androgens for many years. One could measure specific things. Or... perhaps just say no, go compete with the men. I think the sports organizations should decide. And I'm not trying to disparage trans persons when I say they have a mental illness. The issue is that mental illness is stigmatized and should not be. Many, if not most, people have at least some level of mental illness such as bouts of depression or anxiety. Gender dysphoria is a significant mental illness, but it's not the same as, say, somebody with a severe psychotic disorder who can't function due to hearing voices.
Biological males have a distinct advantage over female athletes. Maybe a handicap like in golf. Or a woman's start during a footrace, like a woman's tee.
If they have already gone through puberty without hormone intervention, then I can see the argument for them not competing with other women. It should be up to every governing sports group to individually decide.
I have to respectfully disagree. I agree with your statements about mental illness and how it should not be so stigmatized. I have one of my own. But there is a difference between being trans and having gender dysphoria. And the mental illness is not the competitive issue. And someone isn't mentally ill just for being trans.
I voted no. It's no secret that girls have been injured in sports teams where biological boys have been allowed to play on the girl's team. It's entirely unacceptable. They can't play on the boy's team, and there's not enough of them to form a trans team, so basically, it looks like there's no option in sports to accommodate them. Basically, they are not going to be able to play a sport, and that should be an issue that gets brought up when they're considering a transition.
So based on your logic, how I'm reading it,, a man can legally be prohibited from competing in the women's category but a man with mental illness can't. These people need real help in my opinion...not affirmation that their confusion is ok to celebrate and be proud of... at the expense of women.
Of course not...... The LGBTQ community is being set up as allegorical SACRIFICIAL PAWNS... in the grand scheme! The CBC and CNN are not actually on their side......... the first pieces to be moved on the chess board are essentially always the first to be captured by the enemy......... This is also true in what BigMedia.... BigOil.... BigBanking...... BigPharma..... is setting up! But.... there is much more to this topic that has been shown to near death experiencers......... and all of us tend to over simplify this and most other important topics...... http://www.allaboutchristian.com/spirituality/index.html .... ....
