The defense budget is for FY 2012 is pretty close to $553 Billion dollars, add in around $160 billion for the "Overseas contingency operationy". I am not sure where the Libyan bombing money came from but it was a couple billion dollars. I am all for ending this overseas contingency crap, this will save about 23% of what you identified as the Defense budget. Lets say we shave the defense budget down to $400 billion (under the amount spent on interest on the debt every year now) that would be a 43% decrease. And I am more then willing to make that kind of cut.

There is only one problem... even if we saved that $300 billion our debt will still be just over a trillion this year. Or we could be morons and get rid of defense all together and we can still have over $600 billion in debt each year.

I understand you like attacking the defense budget, and I agree it needs cuts, but it is only a small part of the problem. The interest on the debt is the fastest growing part of our budget, and imagine if interest rates were raised? The way it stands now that interest could easily go over $500 billion a year in a few years the way spending stays high. This is truly just throwing money away. Imagine if we had no debt, that over $400 billion could be used for productive things, like letting the people keep more of their hard earned money.

No, I think it should be SUBTRACTED from the amount that we give out in entitlements.

Thats exactly whats happening. Everything the government spends over and above what they take in, will be added to everything you buy, plus the interest on the debt.

Its called printing money, or quantitative easing if you enjoys the lies the left handed serve to the public.

That is because they know the US military will protect them in their time of need.
