Not only the monarchy should be abolished, but also the nobility, and all of them should be turned out of their manors and estates and forced to work for a living. It is ridiculous to have so many useless people using up so many resources.

Yes, I would say the same about the Congressmen who caused the banking collapse. They should be flogged down the street and then hung from their heels so people can throw rotten eggs at them.

It is far too late in the day for people to call themselves "Lord" and "Lady" and pretend its still the middle ages. The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing when they abolished the nobility. It's time for UK to catch up.

I would take them all down, both here and in your country. The ruling class has screwed us something good. They deserve to be overthrown. They should suffer the same fate the rest of us are suffering because they screwed things up so bad.

Well the Republicans never had a chance. Howard says do you want the current system, or something else we will invent later. And I used to brag to my American friends we could run a Federal election 6 weeks flat, and Julia pulls this lol

The government is giving free money to billionaires while most of us try to scrape by on barely enough to buy food and gas. Its time to tear it all down.

According to a recent poll, only 10% of the population supported a republic and three-quarters of Britons want Britain to remain a monarchy and even if a referendum were held, the public would overwhelmingly vote for keeping the institution. Without the monarchy, Britain will have an identity crisis as people lose touch with their history and traditions and the presence of the Queen has made them feel secure and grounded in a period of turmoil.

What the hell is your beef? While we snarl at each other, the ruling class is laughing at us. They've bought all the politicians. It doesn't matter who we vote for, the politicians answer to them, not us. Your attacking me plays into their hands. They want us divided against each other, so we don't figure out who the real enemy is.

You vote for "them" every time you vote because "they" control both sides.

Okaaayy,, seizing lands, estates and assets from the ruling class and elite for redistribution or retainment of the state, and forcing the ruling class and elite to work (forced labour camps?) smells very much of Communisim.

    What say yee?

No,, Americans only like to call those of power, influence or higher standing "Sir". See any similarity?

The 'nobility' are mostly broke, and spend much of their time trying to raise money to maintain their estates. They also provide a lot of work for a lot of people-builders, gardeners, tradesmen and those who they lease farmland to etc. The few that are wealthy aren't using any more resources than anyone else, and pay for those 'resources'-whatever you think they might be.

As the Brit queen is attending Thatcher's triumphal descent into Beelzebub's reception room I think she should be red-carded .

Unlike those American heroes who line up in international airports to have their genitals groped by a selective few legalised sexual abusers.

Having a good bit of French family history, and in the context of how badly it went for the French monarchy/aristocracy, I’ve turned this over in my mind a good bit.

    Several Things:

    1. The French monarchy delivered poverty, starvation, disenfranchisement, and vast distain for its people. The British monarchy delivered... World Empire...and all the riches and opportunity that went with it. These folks delivered!!

    2. The current monarchy is a pale shadow in the marketplace of world power and except for certain traditional roles is only marginally significant in-and-of themselves. Still, some few of them are beloved. However…

    3. There has developed a remarkable side-effect. The current Sovereign and her son have been at the tables of power for so long…if only as polite observers, for over four generations…that they have become two of the world’s leading advisors. I suggest there are few out there that have experienced the breadth of modern history.

Apart from Her Majesty and the Prince of Wales, they’re a pleasant if none-to-inspiring lot.

I wouldn't want it here, but if the Brits are okay with it, so am I.
