While it is a good idea to spay/neuter, the rule about having them fixed before adoption only applies if you go to a shelter. Private adoption, or drop off/rescue it's not mandatory.

I realize that. I've never gotten an animal anywhere else except a shelter. I've just never seen the point of spending thousands on a pet when there are so many in need that they pretty much give to you.

I agree, 'buying' a pet is supporting the puppy or kitten mills, which usually involves animal abuse for high profits. A friend of mine has cared for several female dogs used for breeding, and they were a mess. 10 minutes in a locked room with the breeders would help my anger issues on the subject.

Only my first kitten was planned for - from my sister's cat. All the others have been 'rescues' of one sort or another, several being drop offs because we are out in the country and the neighbors have barns.

We currently have 5. My husband isn't allowed in the pet store anymore; especially on the weekends. The shelters hang out there on the weekends.

haVE A NIEGHBORthat's been feeding the feral cats, there were two or three of them, now there is a dozen or more... I love cats, however, I also love my birds and bunnies and her cats have taken a toll on them
Fortunately, I also have bobcats, and they keep the populationof feral cats in check.

We are down to one, after losing two within a year of each other. I am campaigning for two teenagers, I don't think I could keep up after a kitten anymore.

My son had a cat that ruined my leather couch and love seat. He clawed them and peed on them. I'll never let another cat in the house. I would have considered an outdoor cat for mouse and snake control, but I don't think I want them in my shop either. I'd rather try ultrasonic pest control.

Graycie6.jpg I just noticed yesterday that diesel is cheaper than regular unleaded. I feel better about my diesel purchase now. Diesel had shot up to $5/gallon when I bought it and I paid $6/gallon when I visited my son on the East coast. (A year ago) Gas was $3.49 and diesel was $3.32 yesterday.

If a female is coming at you in a knife attack, there is a simple way to stop the attack in its tracks.

All you have to do is hold out an open jar of mayonnaise and she will abandon the attack and her feminine instincts will kick in and she will make you a sandwich instead :)

Room addition became a complete remodel

    1. putting a sliding patio door there 6 foot,
    2. wrecked the existing bathroom.. the house is over 100 years old.. the bathroom probably added in the last 50 years.. It was full of termite damage.
    3. the spooky bedroom.. the floor was in terrible shape.. the heavy adobe walls sunk and buckled the concrete floor.. this is the same room, flip side , that is getting the patio door.
    4. The living room is getting yet another window
    5. the spooky room again.
    6. the front of the house and the new and arched window.
    7. gambols quail... looking for a mate, closest I ever got to one.. called cotushas here
    8. load outside Lowes.. 3 cabinets, the sliding patio door and the othe rwindow for the living room, just before I set off for the 250 miles trip home.

We said goodbye to our oldest friend. She was 17, about six months older than our relationship. The first time I spent the night at his place, she peed on my blouse, to make sure I understood the org chart.

She was awesome. Nube will be missed. NOO bay, Spanish for cloud.

We have four more, who are settling into the new group dynamic. Two of them did wander around for a couple of days, looking for her.

I am a firm believer in the idea that animals think and they have an affection for each other and even a dislike. Aubie has always been such a funny little cat, he is a clown.

This is Aubie catching up with us for a ride home. upload_2023-4-27_12-47-50.jpeg

100% agree.one of our cats lost his best friend way too soon. Poor little guy mourned almost a month. It was awful to witness. He’d just wail for hours, every day.
