One of my most unusual finds years ago was the top of an ointment tube, like the very old ones that used to come in a metallic tube.

It was only the round top of the tube the rest of the thin metallic body of the tubing had long since rotted away. And they had a octagon shaped plastic top that look like old bakelite plastic. And they also had very fancy lettering, there was three letters in a stylized logo, which was an abbreviation for what was stamped out on the metallic round part.... It said "Lambert pharmacal company".

A few days later digging about 10 ft away, I found an identical one what are the odds?

They dated roughly around world war II era.

I would post some pictures but I'd have to dig them out of a box somewhere.

My supper. Lemon butter garlic sauce with red snapper and scallops.

The sauce consist of butter and garlic of course, some chicken broth, some half and half cream, couple healthy dollops of sour cream.... And a secret blend of herbs and spices. Might have to cook some grits to go with it. Before baking.

This girl thinks she is our dog. She's my neighbor's neighbor's dog but she's always coming over here to visit us and our dog.

I told him one day that she was over here visiting and she likes to visit our dog and he says I know you should run her off.... If you're going to let your dog run loose, it's not my job to run it off. And don't get mad at me if she evidently likes us better!

She's free to come and go as she pleases. We give her water but we never feed her. IMG_20220324_151214_4.jpg

~ This is how I accumulated 11 cats ... ! Apartment dwellers move and abandon their " pets ". I feed and examine them for microchip - spay/neuter/vaccinate/flea treatment as necessary. Adult cats are difficult to get adopted - so here they live.

Oh she's not abandoned, just has the typical Florida redneck owner that thinks it's okay to let your dog run loose.

If my dog is not in the house he's outside on his cable run, because I evidently care more for my dog than he does. One primary reason I won't let mine run loose is I don't want to go have to scrape it up off the highway.

I've had plenty of cats over the years but I don't currently have any.

You’ve been in my thoughts. I hope this isn’t offensive, as none is intended, but I “saw” your issue when John Travolta was Boy in the Plastic Bubble.

I’m grateful for all of us that we now have so many options to communicate with those we can’t be in a proximity closeness.

    Stay strong.

When I was in college, that became a problem every year at the end of the school year when people would just set their cats "free" instead of taking them home with them. Most of them were unspayed as well so there was a horde of feral cats that had to be dealt with every summer. We rented a house across from a sprawling apartment complex that was mostly students so I would do what I could do for the poor things but ultimately nature, traffic, or animal control would take its course. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many cats I had to bury during that time but it was probably closer to 100 than to 50.

~ Sadly there are many rentals/apartments in my neighborhood. I think many cannot afford to keep their cat and believe they will survive alone. We need more free spay/neuter clinics .

The 'nice" lady across the street feeds the ferals when she down visiting her property here, the population of cats explodes (want more of something? It's easy feed it, I have tried to point this out to bleeding hearts that this applies to humans too.) My natural fuana disappears,, used to have 6 or seven cottontails hanging around the yard.. none now, the dove used to be more truasting.. no more.. even the buzzards are antsy and moving away (yes, I like the buzzards)
It is only when we have a bobcat in th earea that there is any chance of controlling the population of their feral cousins.

When in college, I fed them as that was all the money I had to do. Since then, when the ferals started getting out of control in my hood, one of the neighbors and I started TNR'ing them and the neighbor's daughter would gather up any kittens once they weaned to take them to a no kill shelter where she works in the next county over because they are a true no kill shelter and it is easier to place them as kittens. Nature is taking its course and the remainders are dying back or scattering. We went from about 40 at the high point and are down to about 5 in addition to the ones we have made into our pets, Our local shelter isn't a no kill shelter despite having a token no kill wing for PR.

Saw a pheasant wandering thru the yard.. which is unusual. The Buzzards are back to roosting hereabouts.. must be 100s of them.. they are good to me, they don't crap on my stuff. Saw one bunny, used to have many more, I'll have to keep Rosa's cat from getting them.
buenos dias Smarty, I'll be awake after anothe liter of coffee!

Do you not have coyotes where you live? They will kill and eat feral cats and their kittens are an easy snack. We have almost zero feral cats except maybe a few that scrape out a miserable and short life in larger cities. But where the cities end, there are plenty of coyotes and no feral cats.

I was a carpenter for 30 years when a tungsten tooth came off a circular saw and hit me in the eye, the saw had its safety cover in place but the tooth bounced off the table before hitting me. I was blind in the eye for 3 days and very worried. Luckily it hadn't punctured my eye but caused a series of air bubbles to form.
It was certainly a wake up call and I wear safety glasses ALWAYS now.

I have to discipline myself to slow down and pay absolute attention to what I am doing. Safety is not expensive....its priceless.

Ok I realised, as I was driving down the street of this stereotypical "dusty one horse border town' that I love it here.. the atmosphere is just a cloak of blowing dust with loose paper and plastic bags and other flying debris to remind me...... no one in their right mind would choose to live here,
