    For me personally, Grace Slick shares a top spot for an out of the ordinary womans voice with some serious natural volume behind it.
    I am not speaking of Opera singers. That is a super special catagory of voices.

    Really good music being shared!

    This one is such a departure, I'm not sure how it'll be received, but in her own right very unique and talented.

    Well let's hear it for the original. What I listened to was good old fashioned rok and roll from the 50's and the 60's

    Another one I've played here before, simply fantastic vocals, of course my favorite part is Pavarotti's masterful demonstration at 2:08........

    She does look like a husky in that pic, but she is actually a Malamute. Same principles apply, though, obviously - hard work in some ways, and a dog you have to understand the spirit of to be able to live with, but fantastically rewarding to share life with if you're the right kind of person for them (but if you're not, trying to live with one (let alone 2, as I do) would drive you completely mad very quickly!).

    The style is essentially traditional folk from different parts of the UK.

    Keel Row is a very old folk tune, possibly from Northumbria or Scotland.

    The John Tams song is an English traditional tune that goes back centuries, and the lyrics are modified from a 1706 version (his version was created as the theme tune for the TV series 'Sharpe', set in the Napoleonic Wars, starring Sean Bean and in which Tams played a regular role as Rifleman Daniel Hagman).

    The style of the Fish song is based in Scottish/Celtic folk music (with a bit of added rock), and was recorded at a time when he was kind of personally 'rediscovering' his love of his home country of Scotland (having recently left the band Marillion, which he'd been touring the world with for several years).

    I love that kind of traditional folk music, both the songs that are genuinely centuries old, and the more recently written stuff in the traditional style. I like a bit of American 'Folk', too, but obviously it's not quite the same thing.

    I'm also partial to this kind of thing - again, a very old style of singing/music:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi0kBpw4r_w"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi0kBpw4r_w[/ame]

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXNT-EiA2LU"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXNT-EiA2LU[/ame]

    I also enjoy folk that's been modernised an mixed with rock influences and so on (like Jethro Tull, for example), and obviously also the heavier stuff - perhaps nobody else does 'folk' quite like the scandinavians, though:
