Watch this...... There is no guarantee what you see on tv or the internet is real. An assassination attempt, terrorist attack, accident, can all be faked and used to drive people in any direction the government wants to go.
CGI is no secret. Personally, I like to hear eyewitness accounts and look for youtube footage/social media pix. Not because I distrust the media, but I find it more authentic when the many different sources combine in shaping my thinking.
Why do you think some people such as myself will not accept YouTube as a viable source of real facts. That said just because what we view can be manipulated does not mean it is, it just means one needs to do their homework before believing everything you see and claiming it to be truth.
And how would you do your homework? Taliban videos of children killed by drone strikes, Palestinian videos of children killed by Israeli's have been faked but it was not known for years and then in the case of the Taliban video because they reused a former "dead" child. Are you going to go to Afghanistan and interview these people (assuming they actually found the right people) like the reporters did - and be fooled like the reporters? Imagine a few people make a fake video of a horrific event, maybe the torture and murder of a child by a US soldier, distribute it around the world, and who would know its fake? Are the Muslims in Europe or Turkey - or even the USA - going to wait for an investigation before they riot and seek out Americans to kill? Or imagine a President or political party that does not flinch from using the IRS, ATF, EPA, against their enemies, why not create a realistic video of an opposing political leader throwing a very real and terrified looking granny off a cliff? Or a video of something more cunning. And while its true that secrets can't be kept forever and the scam would eventually leak out, the secret doesn't have to be kept forever, just long enough to accomplish the goal.
