Socialism Doesn't work with the Constitution

The constitution works with any government model the people choose to have. And the constitution can be changed to fit any government model the people choose.

We could even choose to continue on without the constitution given the right amount of legislative support for such an amendment.

First of all, disastrous start to the post (assuming you want a reasonable dialogue). Second, the constitution is in many ways an out of date document.
Third nations that implement socialistic policies in a Democratic manner, such as Scandinavian nations, are doing far better than the United States. Friend you seem to be (no offense) paranoid about a lot of leftists, you seem to generalize them as evil based on right-wing fear mongering. You see Socialism and Communism as evil without viewing them objectively.

ALL governments fail, they're a burden to society. Socialism just tends to fail quicker than most. The failing US economy is indeed a product of government, but not because of deregulation. The US economy is failing because of too much government intervention.

 

Based on every model of socialism ever attempted, or idea of socialism ever conceived of, in human history, I'd say you'd have to throw it out entirely and rewrite it for it to striate. Then it wouldn't be the constitution anymore.

 

The 14th amendment can be amended out of existence. As can any or all of our rights.

 

Socialism is just a public ownership of the markets. Nothing in the constitution prevents such a thing.

 

Why do conservatives assume just because something is disagreeable it's also unconstitutional? There is literally nothing in the constitution that prevents public ownership of the markets. Nothing. In fact congress is given the right to regulate the markets how it sees fit. If it saw that regulation required complete control of the economy it could very well take control of the markets under the constitutional powers.

But they won't because A. It's not sound economic policy. And B. There are maybe 1 or 2 congress people currently in office who would want such a thing. And it certainly wouldn't get signed by Obama.

Socialism is supposedly slavery correct? Of course you never quite define slavery or how the public management of the ecnomy is could be slavery or relate to various dictatorships.

What is capitalism? Freedom? Ha! What is working all of your life to simply enrich the wealthy even further? The top 1% of the US population own a vast majority of the wealth? What is that? The freedom to be enslaved to your supervisors supervisor supervisor?

I don't know that we can find much to agree upon here. Every socialist government attempted in history destroys the first amendment in every facet as its first order of business. That is fact, but I have a feeling you'll try to disagree with it.

We already have public ownership of the markets. You are talking about "government" ownership of the markets. That is also rapaciously counter to the constitution.

 

Socialism is an economic system, it has absolutely nothing to do with speech.

Socialism: A system of government involving collective or government ownership of economic enterprise, with the goal being equality of results, not merely equality of opportunity. Socialism is willing to use democracy to attain it's results, and the rights of free speech, a free press, etc. Communism: A system of government in which a single totalitarian party controls all means of production and distribution of goods and services. Most communists believe there must be an overthrow of the government, and that only one party should rule. No democracy. Fascism: A political ideology in which the state and/or race is assumed to be supreme over individuals. All people are submerged for the good of the state. No freedom if it interferes with this, and values like service, devotion, and discipline are promoted. The goal is produce an almost perfect human being.

So as you can see, lumping them together shows you are clearly not paying attention to the meaning of the words. Before you call anyone an idiot next time, understand the actual meaning of terms.
