Your post supports the reality that that wind and solar have an energy return on investment less that 5 which cannot support a modern society. It's a step back to the dark ages where the energy return on investment was ~ 2. The energy return on investment of fossil fuels is ~ 30 and nuclear is ~ 75. The lower the eROI the more people engaged in producing energy and the fewer people engaged in wealth creation activities resulting in a higher standard of living. This is basic economics and has been presented on this forum.

No “he” doesn’t. He, like me, is a realist and acknowledges nuclear’s shortfalls. Especially the shortfalls of the traditional uranium rectors. What is yet to be determined about Thorium reactors will be the cost of electricity production. Thorium is still very theoretical

Lols! Why should I waste my time on unsupported opinions? It is almost as bad as sourcing all your information from obscure denialist websites

Describes them to a “T” and it is why I am not wasting my time on unsupported opinion. If the post had a link to where the information was sourced I would read it

It’s laughable when you talk about ROI for nuclear power. They are such a pathetic waste of money for electricity consumers AND taxpayers. You complain about expensive California electricity. That’s in large part due to decommissioning costs of old nuclear plants. State money, Federal money, local tax money, electricity rates - money, money, money. And it continues to be funded long after decommissioning. Nuclear is a disastrous mess.

https://www.energy.ca.gov/sites/def...ir insurers for outages caused by the failure.

PG&E has collected monthly fees on customers’ electric bills to fund the trust, which are further augmented over the life of the plant from returns on investment in fixed income (bonds) and equity (stocks). PG&E was required by the CPUC to collect and maintain the Trust Fund while the plant is in operation in preparation for DCPP’s eventual decommissioning. The purpose of the Trust Fund is to ensure sufficient funding will be available to decommission DCPP. The Trust Fund currently holds approximately $2.8 billion.

Since fuel re-processing is not commercially available in the United States, spent fuel is typically being held in temporary storage at reactor sites until a permanent long-term waste disposal option becomes available

It's laughable when you complain about California's self inflicted costs associated with the decision to prematurely shut down via denial of operating license renewal. And complaining about fees collected by PG&E associated with any power generation facility in the state. BTW the monthly charge rate which appears on PG&E bills is $0.00088 per kWh for all rate schedules.

When you post without a validation of your claims it then falls on me to fact check them - wasting my time and producing an inverse effort ratio. Not doing it. Provide the links to back your claims so I have a starting point for rebuttal or I just won’t bother

We all know you could have easily cited a quote, if one existed; but we also all know that you resort to non- existent references all the time.
