Someone educate me on giving other countries money when we dont have the money!

    you're correct that it may be a waste.
    however, Obama does this to bribe
    the other countries. By giving them
    money, they keep some kind agreement.
    sadly, even if we used that money to pay
    off our debt, it would barely make a
    dent in our growing debt.

    Well I guess that is kind of my point. With all the countries we help would that bail us out financially?

    Generally aid is given for one of two reasons either humanitarian ie. The country is so poor it's economy is stagnant and people are suffering from extreme poverty, and disease in high levels. Or geopolitical. The country in question is unstable, and in an area considered to be vital to American interests. This is done to hopefully just let whatever government is there keep order to prevent outbreaks of regional violence which would involve either intervention at a much higher cost by the United States or sacrificing at even higher cost the American interests in the area. This would seem to be the case in Egypt, and the American interests would of course be the Mid East oil market.
