Dear Mr. Specter: Why in the world do you think you're any different than anybody else? You're just a pawn, a useful idiot, to Obama, Biden & Reid. Until you're not useful anymore. Happy retirement, traitor.:puke:

"Specter writes that Obama turned down a request to campaign with him in the final days of the primary, because the president’s advisers feared he would look weak if he intervened and Specter lost."

I remember the race quite well. The voters ditched Specter. He flipped sides a few times. One week he was a Dem, the next he was a Repub. Then back to Dem. Stated himself, and caught on camera, saying he switched so he could get elected. Remember that comercial with the smurky grin he had.
But hey if you Repub's want him back, you can have him. Being a panderer, he is best suited for Repub's anyhow.

Specter was a republican until 2009, he wanted to move to the winning team, that doesn't mean his old republican views would be supported here

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arlen_Specter

"On April 28, 2009, Specter announced that, after 44 years as an elected Republican, he was switching membership to the Democratic Party,[3][4] On May 18, 2010, Specter was defeated in the Democratic primary by Joe Sestak, who then was defeated by current Senator Pat Toomey in the general election. Toomey replaced Specter on January 3, 2011."

Obama and Spector shared the same views on health care, not on all the other issue this republican supported over the last 40 years... common sense

Specter is an idiot. What did he think was going to happen?

He got lied to and played by Barack Obama.

So did Bart Stupak when Barack Obama lied to him and promised an Executive Order that would not allow for the state to fund abortions.

These idiots deserve to be castigated for being so gullible.

Now, when Liberals cry and whine about the Republicans that will not "compromise" with Barack Obama know that he has ZERO credibility. Their memories are not that short.

I can't dispute that one. Specter should have been gone over a decade ago, but your system and the way it protects incumbents from internal party challengers and external challengers needs some term limits.

Coming from a non-US perspective, this is hardly surprising. I guess that floor crossers are not as common in the US as in Parliamentary democracies. They tend not to do well in their new party and dumped after they cease to be useful. It's really only a useful tactic when you either want to get or stop something really important, or raise a big middle finger to your old party on the way out the door.
