    It may well be unprofessional and that it is on his employer to decide. But since the OP wants to make it political it is complete bulshit

    It depends. If she were a coworker and they were just joking around because they were friends, it wouldn't be an issue I think. He apparently didn't particularly know her very well as far as his comments suggest.
