Steve Scalise shot in Virginia, aide also hit

Dear God. What kind of monster did this?

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot in the hip and at least one other aide was also hit in the chest by a gunman with a rifle who opened fire at a baseball practice in Virginia Wednesday morning, Fox News confirmed.

Police tweeted they "believed" the gunman was in custody. Sen. Mike Lee told Fox News, however, the gunman was dead. He said a staffer used a belt as a tourniquet to stop Scalise's bleeding.

The shots were reported on East Monroe Street in Del Ray, Alexandria police said on Twitter at 7:30 a.m. The location was near a YMCA.

It wasn't just any practice either. It was a congressional baseball team practice for the republicans. Crazy stuff.

 

Practice for tomorrow's game, a bi-partisan and fun baseball match.

This is horrific. Thank goodness it appears that Scalise will survive this attack. Thank God the police were right there.

 

Someone was using a Rifle. Whoever it was, shot couple of security guards too.


Republican Congressman and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot early Wednesday morning while practicing for the Congressional baseball game in Alexandria, Virginia. Scalise was shot in the hip and is reportedly in stable condition. His staffers and two security guards were also targeted and shot.

"He was dragging his body from second base to the infield to get away fro the shooter," Rep. Mo Brooks, who was at the scene and applied a tourniquet to Scalise, described to CNN. "My adrenaline is raging. It's never easy when everyone around you is getting shot."

"A pistol against a rifle is not a fair fight," Brooks continued.

The situation lasted for ten minutes. The assailant has reportedly been shot, apprehended and taken to the hospital.

If it someone from the leftness.....they are pushing the brink leading up to that civil war, that they really don't want to see. In as much as they think they will be able to survive.

Repubs best wake up and see the reality for what it is. As if the Demos and the left are not put into check Right now. Then its only going to get worse.

 

Sounds like they got the shooter quick too so yeah, he won't be hurting anybody else.

 

Apparently if the police weren't close by, there would have been some terrible fatalities.

 

Just happened less than an hour ago, details are sketchy. Way too early to speculate on motive, etc.

 

I was just reading that some of the other victims were LEO. Three LEO's shot, an aide, and Scalise.

Edit: now reading two Capitol Hill Police officers were shot. I guess we need to wait a bit for a final and accurate count.

 

I'm sure CNN and the rest of the MSM are blaming the 'environment of left-wing hate'........and discussing endlessly about liberal leftists cheering on plays in Central Park depicting the killing of the POTUS and Hollywood 'celebrities' employed by CNN doing photo shoots with a faux severed head of the POTUS........

 

From what I've read, it's just reporting on what has happened, so far.

Fox reported that several aides were hit, and one was rushed to the hospital after being hit in the chest. According to texts and emails being sent to Fox, the shooter was shot and killed by police.

Looks like CNN's constant call for violence and terroristic acts against Republicans may be having more success.

Didn't see mention of any fatalities, thankfully. Hope all recover.....well, scratch that, I don't care if the shooter recovers. Maybe he can disappear after they get whatever info they want from him.

Interesting how the media will not give any description or the name of the shooter, though claim to have shot him.

 

You make a good point here. The media and it's ability to steer people with constant narratives certainly can lead to events like this. Seems from what you quoted, if this was the Democrats practicing, we might not be here now. Who, without all the media buzz, would hate any certain party enough to do this?

I think you are correct to pin some blame on the media. The Media needs to clean up it's hateful bias.

 

Stop it. I have MSNBC on in my hotel room, and they aren't blaming anyone. Senator Rand Paul is on - he was there.

Please don't politicize this yet, or use this tragedy to attack the MSM. All that's being reported and discussed are the facts as we know them, which isn't much other than Scalise and two policemen are shot, and lots of shots were fired.

 

They probably don't know who it is. They will only know when the police report on the shooter.

 

I'm sure the visceral rhetoric the left has been pumping out since November, had nothing to do with it.

 

If the shooter is of the leftness.....then it is what it is. As I just don't see the shooter as having a personal grudge against all the different Repubs he was shooting at.

 

That was my reaction too after listening to Rand Paul say what happened (he was there). He said he heard him reloading, or at least he thought he did. You fire 50 rounds, and don't hit more than a few people (thank God). He must have been a terrible shot. Again, thank God.

 

I've seen one description, he may be a white guy:

He said the shooter appeared to be a white male but added that "I saw him for a second or two." He said the shooter was behind the third base dugout and didn't say anything.

According to the WE he hit several. Plus the 2 cops. Still there is conflicting reports about the shooter. Whether he is alive or dead.
