Strange that it's mostly Democrats who want to continue the lockdown destroying our economy...

If swimming pools came to life and ate people, the devastation would be incalculable.

    Vote Democrat 2020!

Probably somebody will yell out "BUT THE ECONOMY"!

Right... and who is going to pay for that?

Yeah I'm friends with all of them. They ironically enough formed a weekly group about it. They meet on Wednesdays 6-9. Want to join them?

    I say it's going to 137%.

    The ACTUAL numbers?

So far, they're TINY compared to other causes of death in this country.

So why is it that Democrats are pushing so hard for the destruction of our economy?

Is it just the latest attempt to destroy Trump?

First it was that Trump wasn't going to honor the election results.

But it was Democrats that didn't.

Then Putin was trying to destroy us with Trump's help.

    That didn't happen.

    Then Kavanaugh, and Ukraine.

    Are you seeing a pattern?

Is the boy crying wolf yet AGAIN, but this time with the effect of destroying the village?

    I originally said 137%, but I'm revising to 296%.

    Vote Democrat 2020!

I'll be honest no I'm really not. It's a serious disease and your response to it is 'but dems bad and trump not bad'.

What if Biden were a Skrull?

What effect might this have on the election?

The left has certainly pitched in with its hysteria, but the Democrats have the real numbers; an army determined to destroy Trump at all costs.

They're not going to be ignored.

Probably the Republicans would need to get Red Skull out of storage because they're not too keen on Captain America anymore. Who knew S.H.I.E.L.D. was really into waterboarding Trump's aides?

Are you confused about the topic?

It's not imaginary numbers designed to induce FearPanic.

It's about Democrats being the ones cheerleading the destruction of our economy.

They're about to nominate a rapist, and love war criminals Obama and Bush II, so this sudden concern for human life and dignity seems...

    ...odd.

    Unless there's another agenda.

    Like destroying Trump.

The question I posed is if the death rate is about 1%, what effect would that have on the economy? That way it won't matter about some silly blame game. It's just a simple case of this is the mortality rate, what effect does that have on the economy?

    Not the topic.

Feel free to start your own "what if" thread if you feel the need to.

No, I didn't point out a million might. I said those numbers were utter stupidity. Do I think a million Americans will die of Cornavirus? No I do not. Even counting all of the "probable" deaths they are rolling into the true numbers.

Does it occur to you that it's odd that Fauci (where you got that 1% from in your link) is making that claim when there are no current models showing anywhere near that? As a graduate student, I would expect you to pick up on that sort of thing.

Polling on this issue shows a clear majority (65+%) favor continuing the restrictions.

Since democrats constitute about 1/3 of the voting age population then clearly you are full of it.

Businesses that cater to the elderly will be hurting.

The Social Security Trust Fund will become healthier.

Children of the elderly will be given a cash infusion which they will squander giving a boost to the economy in general.

Well you see when a hospital treats a patient and doesn't get paid for it, they need to find a way to recover their loss which means they have to bill the government. That means it strains federal and state responses to the crisis because they have to pay for treatment. All I was trying to do was to get you to see that somebody has to pay.

Oh I figured I was responding to a strawman argument halfway through talking to you. Fauci can say a number yes, but that does seem to be in line with what the WHO says. I don't care if you don't like the number, to be frank as soon as you said that it didn't matter my source said a million could die, I knew this is what you were really about. Trying to pick apart a line I already clarified. So strawman.

And what happens to parents who were relying on grandparents to babysit?

they are medicare patients. The government already gets billed.
They are probably DNRs that die in the home.

The hospitals are getting tens of thousands for every covid patient they admit and $35,000 if they put them on a ventilator. They’re incentivized to label every patient they can as covid.

Now that everyone has been confronted by the fact that life depends on health and not money, a new and better attitude toward healthcare will emerge.

You can’t get that healthcare without money. You just want to spend other people’s money instead of your own.
