Submachine gun, sniper rifle seized by counter-terrorism police in Sydney 'intended for use' http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-07-...le-seized-by-counter-terrorism-police/6618628 So 3 WW2 era weapons are found in an abandoned house. Yep, seems logical to me to jump to the conclusion that these are terrorist weapons about to be used against the public. They surely weren't granddad's WW2 stash.
Really? Is that the best you can come up with.... or are you trying to appear close minded. Abandoned houses make really good 'safe houses' for operations in planning and as a rally point, if you can lock the doors and windows that is. A SMG and scoped rifle working together could cause a lot of damage in the wrong hands. I doubt granddad would have stashed them in a plastic bag inside the toilet cistern... as that would only really work for short term storage with any certainty, any long term storage is risking water damage.
I don't see anyone jumping to conclusions about terrorists. It clearly could be, which might be why counter-terrorism officers recovered the weapons but they basically said that they have no idea who put the weapons there. The quotes just state that they were ready for use, which could presumably be concluded from how they were stored and they probably had some information from the owners to indicate the longest the weapons could have been there.
It was probably a counter-terrorism team that went in because of how they got the information I reckon.
"These are highly lethal firearms that someone has stashed away with the intent to use when they deem the time is right," he said.
