LOL. I think he needs to change his handle to something without “nice” in it and maybe try anger management therapy.

Is chance of death the determining factor for stand your ground? Many people have shot unarmed people fleeing or backing away simply because they are afraid of a potential danger or physical confrontation. Using the same argument how many people die from getting in a fight. You may suffer injuries but can it be argued if a black eye is worse than a disease.

Note that not all speech is protected.

See Schenck v. United States, 249 U.S. 47 (1919), was a landmark decision of the US Supreme Court concerning enforcement of the Espionage Act of 1917 during World War I. A unanimous Supreme Court, in an opinion by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr...
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schenck_v._United_States

In short, speech that is dangerous and false is not protected.

So even claiming that masks don't help might be worthy of a lawsuit. And it isn't protected as some aspect of personal expression either.

It is time to start suing the crap out of these people who are willing to risk the lives of others out of spite AND the ones promoting this behavior.

And remember the great thing about America: We can sue anyone for anything. It just takes money. And we have plenty of money.

Sure. I think we should defund the police, shut down prisons, overwhelm the hospitals with shooting victims, and then have every citizen Karen and Kevin calling up Social Workers to report people for not wearing a mask.

Have you been a right-wing Republican RINO for many years, or did you just start? They are hard to distinguish from the authoritarian left-wing DINO's these days.

This thread is pretty good evidence things are going to get really bad in this country before they get better. And I’m not talking about viral infections. Man I’m glad I live where I do. :)

Locking people down is giving people lots of time to read about things like freedom and their constitutional rights. Silver lining around every cloud?

Seems like Oregon would be a nice place for loners to spend Thanksgiving, with a pair of binoculars and a phone to call police on any neighbors who have more than 6 people at their home.

Wait? Aren't the police kind of busy downtown with the "legal" Antifa rioters????

I hope that’s one of the silver linings. :)

My best friend has never really paid much attention to politics or the foundational freedoms and rights. He wasn’t ignorant, just not at all passionate about actively protecting those rights. This Covid thing has really fired him up. It’s been fun watching the metamorphosis.

Covid was my evidence of that. Seeing how many people I grew up just shrug off the loss of freedoms and liberties is flabbergasting to me. I've said it before but I think these people were raised in a different country or something. The Americans I was raised to know would fight for liberties and work for the bread on their table. That is not what I'm seeing from the tail end of my generation and the following ones. I see a group of losers who have given up on the idea of supporting themselves. Who think altruism is better than being self sustaining. Who are willing to comply and conform to whatever is popular on TV or the news. They are not independent thinkers nor are they able to sustain themselves or contribute positively to anything. This is the main reason why skilled labor has to be imported from other countries, because the newer generation of Americans have nothing to show for their $100,000 degrees in social justice courses. Einstein saw the writing on the wall when Germany was turning on the jews. He loved Germany but he began to realize is was a sinking ship. I'm beginning to have the same feeling for the country I grew up in and love. Only for me it's not Nazis but progressives. It'll be a sad day when I have to say farewell to America and makes my way down south to some Latino or Caribbean region where I can retire off the living I made in the states.

Can’t argue with any of that. As I get older and consider lessons from history at a deeper level I’m more and more convinced the majority of humans do not desire freedom. It’s just part of human nature to abdicate free will to authority. This country happened to be founded by and populated with a bunch of anomalies in the beginning as a result of freedom lovers migrating here. But that demographic has been diluted back down to the point it’s easy for authoritarians to control them again.

It is sad and I’ve seen a few “go bad” as you have. I am encouraged by the number of people I’ve seen newly appreciate freedoms. We’ll just have to see how it shakes out.

Here's how I see it going down:

A person leaves their house without a mask. Any person who sees them are going to be required by law to report them. If not they will be accessories. Upon reporting this person to the authorities the swat crews will come and forcibly detain that person, preferable using the knee on the back of the neck technique. That person will be detained and interrogated. After the criminal is subjected to Covid re-education training, they will be fined $100,000 along with a year of community service in a struggling inner city neighborhood near them.

You're free to wear a diaper on your face forever. You're also free to bathe in Clorox and hide under your bed in terror with the rest of the Branch Covidians. Stop demanding everyone follow your cult.

So, if I'm understanding this correctly, a person will report someone without a mask and the unmasked person will stand there waiting for the SWAT team to show up and exact excessive force and impossibly high fines and community service? Hmm.

Why would the unmasked person stand there and wait for the authorities? How would the reporter be able to identify the person unless they stalk them and get a license plate or demand some form of ID (thereby risking personal harm)?

I know you are being facetious. My whole point is this is NOT a feasible or practical idea. I would prefer law enforcement to focus on violent criminals and untreatable psychopaths roaming free in society.

I know it's not practical. Unfortunately there are a lot of impractical ideas that carry a lot of weight in the democrat party. Reparations, defund the police, sue people for not wearing masks, make everyone stop using AC and eating meat, and on and on. It's part of this mob mentality where they feel they can make people comply, or punish them. Do you believe blacks lives matter? No? Get him! Hey look, he's not wearing a mask, get him!!! It's really getting tiring as someone who doesn't get into other people's business and enjoys it when people do the same. Instead it's look like we do, think like we do, talk like we do or you will be identified, categorized, and punished.

So if I was wearing this you would you, or would you not sue me and why?

Because they don't work and can actually spread the virus further.

In reality you are advocating spreading CV-19 by forcing mask wearing.

What is why insurance should be risk based, if a person is a high risk they should pay more just like a person with a DUI conviction pays more for car insurance, the idea of insurance for all at the same price is totally flawed and raise's the price for everyone.

Most commercial insurance policies do not cover damage caused by civil insurrection or wars, so what happens is just like in the ghetto's, business's move out and those who do stay greatly increase their prices due to the high risk of staying in a high risk area and we are not in this all together, you can stay and take the risk, I will move and leave you behind to suffer your high risk decision.

However that has not happened, it's just a myth pushed by the must wear a mask advocates.
