I should be able to deny you service because I don't like your tie. It's my private business

So does that mean if one runs out of gas in front of a Muslim owned gas station they have the right to refuse you service because it is against their religion to serve non believers?

    Better get to walkin'

You are referring to the federal civil rights public accommodations law. Does not apply here he is not a place of public accommodation under that law.

Like I said, the commission did not give him a fair hearing.

I would recommend reading the SCOTUSblog reporting. Here is how they summarize the "gist."

    Agreed.

Government shouldn't use force to encourage tolerance. There are other means of persuasion such as a list of qualifications before being allowed a government-backed business loan or tax deductions.

Is it? And how many times does it have to be repeated, the baker was more than willing and had in fact sold products to these guys in the past. It was about becoming part of the wedding ceremony to which he objected.

I don't care about moral codes.
What makes you think you are entitled to anything, from anybody, for any reason?

Tax codes should not be used to dictate behavior

Correct. Or, as our atheists want to do, refuse service to believers. It's their choice. Let them have it. When they go out of business, that's their problem.

Feel free to quote the portion of the ruling that held the law is unconstitutional.

Amend the Constitution, then. There are NO PROTECTIONS for genital preferences, there are VERY CLEAR protections for practicing one's faith.

It was done to us here in CA. After all the work we did to get them included in civil unions.

This is what I mean. While most of us are rational and are truly advocates of equal rights for all people regardless of their race, gender, sexuality, and...gasp...religion you work to undermine all of this because of your selective hatred of Christians. Your position and your hatred are wrong. I, for one, want all of the conservatives on this board to understand that while I will support a gay person's right to be served just like everyone else I will also support their right to practice their beliefs whenever, wherever, and however they like so long as they aren't discriminating against other people.

Yet they are. Why do parents get a deduction and I don't? Why do married people get a deduction and single people don't?

I'm for a flat 20% tax, no deductions. You?

That's pretty much the sole purpose of the tax code to be fair.

Absolutely not the same thing. Why is it me wanting to shred the first amendment because I find it damaging to tell kids they are going to hell?

    Following one's religion is a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT...not a "fiat".

Finally, an END to the LGBT Attack Squad's attack on other Americans' rights...

You have the express right to practice religion. You do not have the express right to enforce morals on the public by religious fiat.
