Well well well. So the Koch bro's have been making money by supporting the USA's arch enemy - Iran. Then, subsequently funding the tea party.

This should be a massive wake up call to all supporters of the TP - I mean, any grass roots movement should be very very wary of accepting funding by industrialists worth 40Bn USD.

Iran isn't the arch enemy of the USA. The American left is the arch enemy of the USA.

You don't get it. There's no bargaining, negotiating, begging, imploring or pleading that will work. One side wins. The other side loses. For keeps.

Hmm, why would Koch Industries use their own to investigate the dealings of their affiliates and subsidiaries?

Great juxtaposition of the Koch Bros., The Tea Party, and Iran though. I could see this on the cover of some far Left tabloid.

Stay on topic. Your post has nothing to do with the OP.

Sorry. I think you're objective is to discredit the TP movement. I also think it's too late for that. The Koch Bros. didn't invent the TP movement. It was sui generis. They provided funding from some part of their vast fortune after it had been born.

As a result of the conditions in the country it has taken on a life of its own. Its not monolithic at all. You can lop off a head here or there, and more will grow back.

As far as the Koch Bros. go, give them their day in court and a trial by a jury of their peers.

We don't have any friends. Americans are totally alone, except for the Canadians who are joined with us at the hip.

Indeed, there are few things besides the TP movement that can get to the bottom of our problems and wipe things clean.

The TP movement isn't going to solve America's problems. However, it will put a stop to the leftist agenda. In some ways it already has. There is no cavalry riding to the rescue.

It took decades to reach this point and it will take a long time for this phase to end. Japan has been going through this crap for almost twenty years in fits and starts.

How much longer do you think it will take for the TP movement to remove all this crap?

Are you saying that this thread shouldn't exist? I mean, it's reported in a credible newspaper.

For the Koch bros, they didn't need to start the tea party, the GOP and Dems didn't start the USA but they still run it. The Kock bros FUND the tea party, therefore this is a credible story.

Yes. It took decades to get to the point where the top 1% of american's own 50% of the wealth in the country - more than the bottom 50% combined.

It took decades to pursuade the people of the USA that this was actually good for them.

I would dearly love to tell you that the TPM can turn things around as soon as Republicans control both chambers of Congress and the Presidency because trillions in private money on the sidelines here and held by Americans overseas will be invested to produce jobs and turn things around.

But I'm afraid the political system can be stymied by the left as well as the right. And that is what the left is likely to do. That's why I keep saying one side has to crush the ideology of the other side before it can effectively govern.

I honestly don't see any way America can pay its current and long term fixed liabilities without an explosion of human and monetary capital invested in this country. It's possible. But I don't think it's likely.

America would also have to straighten out its relationship with China. We would have to stop being fools. But the Chinese may have too much power over us now.

To be confident in the future I would have to see national solidarity and unity of purpose of the type last seen during WWII. How likely is that?

It was Lord Palmerston who said that nations have no permanent friends and allies, only permanent interests. Imo, he was correct. Except for Canada which is joined with us at the hip.

So everyone could say that. Which means your statement is the equivalent of "every country has boarders".

Sure it's a legitimate story. If it weren't legitimate I would be bleeding, puking and urinating all over the screen simultaneously. And I assure you that I am composed. :) But I still think this story is too late because the conditions in the country and the zeitgeist of the people have moved very far down the road.

Boarders? Or borders? The meaning changes depending on the spelling.

Palmerston's observation is correct, but America is experiencing something which is unique among great empires and states. Decline approaching collapse. I refer to the end of Pax Americana. That leaves America very much alone....

So it doesn't concern you at all that the Tea Party purports to want to restore honor and integrity to the country, and yet one of the more significant supporters is under investigation (with evidence supporting it) for doing business with Iran? I would have thought that this would have significantly undermined the Kock bros and that Tea Party people would want to act to remove the Koch bros from its organisation?

The party puts itself forward as a moral force, yet it's accepting funds from an immoral source...

I would suggest that America's situation is not unique, far from it. It's a well worn path, a path paved with greed and people acting in self interest, all wrapped up in the joyous flags of the nations who previously walked it.

I'm not part of the TPM. They're too tame for me. I'm on the radical right...you know the guy's foaming at the mouth. Let the good times roll and let's see how this plays out.

Many polities come and go, but only rarely does a hegemon come into being creating a systemic world of generalized peace between other great powers by creating international systems. Rome, Britain, and America were such hegemons. When the Pax of the generalized peace ends great wars are possible. That is why seeing such eras end is sad.
