Just tragic! Will anyone in SF care? My guess is not many:

    43 years old — that’s sad

Was his death “on the streets” as the absurdly biased article implies or in his apartment As they have massively different implications.

His family said he was an extremely generous and loving individual, hopefully his family and friends can find closure and police find the culprit.

Biased? The mayor of San Fran, after defunding the police, losing hundreds of them and now can’t find recruits, has called on the feds to help the city deal with crime and drugs.

When you rally against police, stop arresting or start releasing criminals, support and defend homeless drug encampments, and prioritize first world problems.. this is what you get.

The residents get what they vote for.

I feel bad for this guy, but have to wonder if he voted for the nonsense.

What does this have to do with whether or not a news (loosely speaking) article is biased or not?

I was responding to your comment about the story being biased. After reading it, I assumed you didn’t like the way San Fran was portrayed. Was I right? If not, I will apologize for making that assumption.

Oh SF is a shithole to be sure.
Parts are beautiful don’t get me wrong but I hated the city portions (but in all fairness I hate all large cities)

You are right about SF. It is getting worse. Perhaps they can ban knives!

They were trying to ban mini skirts in SF. (Because their balls show!)

I think the police and teachers in this nation are facing the same problems. They have a few bad apples that the unions protect which causes public perception to find fault with the entire institution.

Both are underpaid for the duty that is entrusted to them which causes less qualified applicants to be the only ones that will take the position.

Pay them more, immediately investigate and remove the bad ones and expect more from them.

I hear you on that. I lived a mile from NYC and didn’t like it. The only thing NYC has going for it is the food, especially Italian food. When I lived in Vegas I found a place that made Italian food just like NY/NJ but that city is no place to raise a family.

From what I’m seeing cops get fired more frequently than teachers. A while back I saw a story about teachers who weren’t allowed to be in classrooms due to their conduct yet couldn’t be fired, so they go to school every day and play on the internet.

Let’s say it’s bad enough where progressives recalled a progressive DA, they’re short by about 500 cops because they’re quitting and the anti police rhetoric discourages new recruits, and just recently the mayor begged the feds for help after she bragged about defunding the cops.

One year they lost a small amount, but got it back and more the next year. Doesn’t sound defunded to me.

Big cities also have some awesome attractions / museums. I’ve had some higher end food in Vegas and was completely underwhelmed but I like country food so that could be the issue.

I agree with you on the family thing — but millions of people disagree.

In SF is that even enough to live? I worked out there for a few years around 2010ish and was making 100k at the time and prices were still outlandish. I cannot imagine purchasing power has increased since then.

1 to 2 million dollar one bedroom apartments was laughable to me when I got out there but the way they were advertised tried to make them seem like a deal.

I wouldn’t doubt it. While I completely support at will unions, public sector unions need to be disbanded for what they do — or at least seriously reformed.

When I lived there the high end food just looked fancy but was very blah. I found a hole in the wall for Italian food that was great. If you ever go there hit me up and I’ll tell you where it is. I haven’t been there in ten years, but from I’ve been hearing, the taste and quality of food in a lot of joints dropped when the virus hit and then got worse with inflation. Hopefully that isn’t the case with this place.

Best burger I have ever had was from a gas station beside where we played paintball. No where has ever been able to match it.

The small owner operators almost always value their food and their guests and recipes have been perfect over generations.

Those fancy places charge a ton just for the plating and environment which is cool for some people. Give me oysters on the half shell at a beach bar anytime though.

COVID made a mess of everything, everywhere
