Ted Cruz Reveals Obama's 6 Mad Power Grabs in One Year Foiled by SCOTUS

When President Obamas own Supreme Court nominees join their colleagues in unanimously rejecting his Administrations call for broader federal power six times in just over one year, the inescapable conclusion is that the Obama Administrations view of federal power knows virtually no bounds, said Sen. Cruz. This is a deeply troubling pattern that we will continue to highlight as long as this Administration continues seeking ways to expand its power in direct violation of Americans constitutional rights.

Sen. Cruzs report highlights the six cases that the Supreme Court has unanimously rejected since January 2012. Had President Obamas Department of Justice been successful in its cases, the federal government would have the power to:

Attach GPSs to a citizens vehicle to monitor his movements, without having any cause to believe that a person has committed a crime (United States v. Jones);

Deprive landowners of the right to challenge potential government fines as high as $75,000 per day and take away their ability have a hearing to challenge those fines (Sackett v. EPA);

Interfere with a churchs selection of its own ministers. (Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church & School v. EEOC);

Override state law whenever the President desires. (Arizona v. United States);

Dramatically extend statutes of limitations to impose penalties for acts committed decades ago. (Gabelli v. SEC); and

Destroy private property without paying just compensation. (Arkansas Fish & Game Commission v. United States).

When did God or Ted Cruz become Supreme Court Justices?

"Dramatically extend statutes of limitations to impose penalties for acts committed decades ago. (Gabelli v. SEC);"

This is an interesting case- do you think that crooks who managed to conceal their crimes for 5 years and one day should be clear and free? I personally have concerns about the statute of limitations but that is a legislative matter- the SEC tried to enforce a broader interpretation but the Supreme Court said no.

Exactly how its all supposed to work- contrary to those who say the Supreme Court shouldn't have this kind of power.

Sen. Cruz: Pathway to Citizenship Would Kill Immigration Reform Bill
April 22, 2013 Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Monday that including a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants jeopardizes the likelihood of any immigration reform bill passing.

I think if instead the bill includes elements that are deeply divisive and I would note that I dont think there is any issue in this entire debate that is more divisive than a path to citizenship for those who are here illegally - in my view, any bill that insists upon that jeopardizes the likelihood of passing any immigration reform bill, said Cruz at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on immigration reform. I think we should all be champions of legal immigrants making the system work, and not just welcoming, but celebrating legal immigrants. I think if we are going to see an immigration reform bill pass, that should be the focus of the bill, he said.

Eight senators, including Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), also known as the Gang of Eight, proposed a bill last week to allow illegal immigrants to apply for citizenship while still inside the United States. In a speech on the Senate floor, Rubio said illegals who entered here before December 2011, they have to present themselves. They will be subjected to a background check, and unless they have committed serious crimes in the U.S., they will have to pay a fine, an application fee. If they have committed serious crimes, they will be deported, he said.

The immigration reform bill should secure the border, improve legal immigration and improve conditions for agricultural workers, Cruz said. So it is my hope that passing a bipartisan bill addressing areas of common agreement securing the border, improving legal immigration, improving agricultural workers to ensure that we have workers who are here out of the shadows, able to work legally, he said.

The bill should focus on areas of agreement, not disagreement, Cruz said. I hope that that reform legislation will not be held hostage to an issue that is deeply, deeply divisive, namely a pathway to citizenship. In my view, thats how we get something done we focus on areas of agreement, not on areas of disagreement, and Im hopeful that over the course of consideration, well see some consensus come together to do exactly that, he said.

When asked about Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Richardson expressed his distaste for the senator.

Im not a fan. I know [Ted Cruz is] sort of the Republican latest flavor. Hes articulate. He seems to be charismatic, but I dont like his politics. I think he introduces a measure of incivility in the political process. Insulting people is not the way to go. But I guess hes a force in the Republican political system, but Im not a fan.

ABC News: Do you think he represents most Hispanics with his politics?

No, no. Hes anti-immigration. Almost every Hispanic in the country wants to see immigration reform. No, I dont think he should be defined as a Hispanic. Hes a politician from Texas. A conservative state. And I respect Texas choice. But what I dont like is when you try to get things done, its okay to be strong and state your views, your ideology. But Ive seen him demean the office, be rude to other senators, not be part of, I think, the civility that is really needed in Washington.
