Hamas knows they have no chance at an actual war so they correctly use whatever "weapons" the can.

Unfortunately for them this last action has made them lose a lot of followers world wide.

By carrying out terrorism from the homes of their people and using them as human shields they don't need to put a child n the way of a tank as the danger is surety while they conduct their war crimes of terrorism and deliberately endangering their own people.

He knows this all and tells us that this is what Hamas wants. If they didn't want this they wouldn't send rockets which guarantee a destructive response. After all, he nailed it on the head when he said;

So he knows all this and would expect, like any other sane human that Hamas would stop this policy of sacrificing their own people for propagation of hatred.

I disagree. This latest round of dead civilians is all Hamas's doing. Israel, no matter what sins they ever committed never had any inkling of going into Gaza to take out schools and hospitals or people until Hamas began hiding their weapons amongst them, firing from those locations or nearby, telling their own people to ignore IDF warnings to vacate a target in fact, if I'm not wrong Israel only goes into Gaza when the rockets targeting their civilians begin flying. Myself, if I were a person concerned about my people I would certainly not be intent on turning my nation into rubble rather than drop the destruction of my neighbor from my charter and policy but then again, I'm somewhat sane and view human rights as a right, not a tool for my organization to further our hatred.

Hamas is not stupid, they know what they are doing and how the world will react. Their goal is destruction of Israel and the more people they can get to side against Israel, the better. Hamas is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood who got their start with Nazi funding.

 

So random question. If Israel really wants to minimalize civilian targets, is it smart to keep bombing, keep the "security for peace" policy that really hasn't been working, or just keep thinking that people don't want to defend their homes?

 

If Hamas stopped shooting rockets and building tunnels into Israel then the hostilities would cease and the blockade would be lifted but Hamas has only one goal, to destroy Israel.

 

Even if Palestine or Hamas is destroyed as long as Israel is as well then mission accomplished. This is the goal and it's priceless to Hamas.

 

Hamas does not care about the Palestinians. They are just a pawn to be used for their final solution.

Sure, but Hamas wouldn't have been in power if it wasn't for the left center parties in Israel being replaced by the right. And that wouldn't have happened if the Israeli PM wasn't killed. That wouldn't have happened if the PLO didn't exist. That wouldn't have happened if the 1967 war didn't happen. And that wouldn't have happened if Arab countries recongized the right of Israel to exist. And that wouldn't have happened etc etc etc. This isn't a "one person stops and everyone stops" solution. This isn't going to end until both sides can agree to stop, and acknowledge the right of the other to exist.
