That weaponry was provided to the Afghan army to protect their country. Were the US commanders supposed to know that they were going to flee and leave it behind?

Most people with an IQ higher than a fence post would know when the president and leader of the Afghan army left the country in the middle of the night that their leaderless army wasn't worth spit. And they knew this days before ordering the evacuation.

He didn't say that and the fact you have to make it up is very telling. He said he would NEVER try and evacuate the embassy and the Americans last. They should have been evacuated first, and the military would be last. Then he would bomb the bases.

Trumps plan was to remove all troops from Afghanistan by May 2021. Since that 2020 agreement was put in place, the last American casualty was February of 2020. He cut our troops from 5000 to 2500 and the 2500 troops along with our air base had no problems what so ever keeping Americans safe in Kabul for over a year.

Biden decided to abandon that agreement extending our departure to an undetermined date. He was warned that withdrawing troops irresponsibly would likely lead to a new civil war in Afghanistan and would allow terrorist groups to re-emerge empowered. Once Biden refused to remove troops by the agreed deadline, the Taliban political leader in Doha, Qatar, said the group’s plan was to try and capture strategically important provinces.
Taliban fighters were called out of their traditional winter break from fighting to front-line duty and their siege began.

Biden ordered our air support base abandoned weeks before the evacuation and moved to evacuate the embassy and remaining troops without a single call to any of our NATO allies or any warning to American citizens in Kabul.

Now we had to send over 6000 more troops for Bidens idiocy, the Taliban has surrounded the airport, we have only evacuated 300 Americans since, and told the Americans they must get to the airport on their own while French and British soldiers are going door to door getting their people out.

 

Paul 'Pen' Farthing tells Sky News how aircraft are taking off from Kabul airport every hour "regardless of whether they're full or not", adding: "People can't get in, they cannot get into the airport."

Every foreign allied national in Afghanistan (who wants to leave) also has a responsibility to have at the minimum traveled to Kabul. Why they have not done so yet is a very legitimate question.
